    3.08 gears with 35" tires?

3.73 or 4.10 gears would be a good selection if you did NOT have a 700r4. 4.56 its about where you want to be with a 700 and 35s

15" rims on 3/4 ton axles

Grinding calipers on 3/4 and 1 ton axles has ben done thousands of times. Don't go crazy and you will be fine. The drawback from 16.5s, aside from the price, its their lack of a safety bead. This makes it that much easier to lose a bead off road. couple that with the added sidewall flex of a 15"...

    Detroit Lockers

The 14ff Detroit is not a full carrier locker, it replaces the spider gears and cross shaft. Absolutely not a waste of time, the one I have just doesn't fit my use for the truck, so it is for sale. Not a used locker at all. Never even been in gear oil. Since my truck will be used as a plow...

    12 bolt over a 10 bolt

Truck 10 bolts being weak is not a myth, it's a fact. Poor carrier design. What the 12 bolt gains in carrier strength it loses in the pinion bearings.

    727 carnage

Buddy had one come apart like that in a derby truck. Stupid thing finished the derby, done off the track, and onto the trailer, then that was all she wrote. No clue why or how it kept moving.

    How to add more lift?

Don't lift the front with 2" shackles, it will throw you pinion angle off, as well as your caster, which it's not adjustable without angle shims between the axle and the spring. Call Kert at www.DIY4X.com and get a4.5"center to center shale for the front, and a pair of Ez Inch add a leaves. Also...

    1978 k10 help

Trading for a $1900 gun, stick to fords. No way is that a good deal. For $1900 for a basket case truck, I'm expecting big block or diesel, and full 1 ton drivetrain. If it's a 1/2 ton, and I'm posting that kind of money, I beyer be able to fire it up and drive it home.

Good deal. I was dreading pulling 3 steering arms rather than 2.

    AC Delete

I used to have a pic of the 86 I did, but my laptop died. Do yourself a favor and when you pull the heater box from the donor truck, make a template for when you install it into your truck. Or if you can cut the whole section of the firewall of the donor out.

    Dash mounted console build

Just a thought, cut the corners off, you'll be able to cover them with the glass mat, and you will get the corners slightlyrounded for a more finished look.

Any lifted snow plow trucks ????

Yes. There is no more adjustment to move it down more.... Yet. Ill be modifying it before I bring it back out after the body swap.

Any lifted snow plow trucks ????

Getting the plow frame level with the ground will make or break a plow truck in a hurry. My 80 K2500 with an add a least in the front on 33s sits about 2" too high. It's never plowed for crap compared to my 77 K20 with the exact same blade on it. I need to modify the mount on the truck to move...

    Higher RPMs

So because all Th350s,th400s, and powerglides are going to burn up? I mean after all, they don't have lockups. Not locking a converter will not cause you to burn up a trans. Cycling a tcc too lifter will though.

    no steering

Stashing a steering arm and a block isn't much better of an idea... Stress will shear the studs easier.

    May be Dumb Question..

Uh... No. you adjust out at a warm idle, in park, with the advance mechanism disabled (vac line unplugged, electronic advance disconnected)

And legal too... Lift blocks on any steer axle are illegal in all 50 states, not to mention a stupid decision.

    racing a stepside??

Cut everything unnecessary out of the front end, ditch the ac and heat if it's a race only truck.manual steering, aluminum everything, move the battery to the bed as far back and to the passenger side as possible, also mount a fuel cell against the tailgate. Cal tracs, slicks, a good set of...
