What have you done to your square lately??

More time out in the driveway and garage. Covered head to toe and completely worth it.

What have you done to your square lately??

Spent the day out in the garage. Got the intake manifold, carb, thermostat, water pump, alternator, egr, fuel line, motor mount brackets, and new clamshells on the frame. Stuck the new k&n air cleaner and oil filter, and the aluminum valve covers on for some fun. Need to sort out the vacuum...

    skid plate for my 74

I know the air dams on the gmt400's are typically good for 1-2mpg. Just helps keep air out from under the vehicle instead of going the full belly pan. Race cars have adopted the same thing to reduce drag. Would it do a whole lot for our trucks? Probably not. It'd be like polishing the bottom...

    skid plate for my 74

Just purely out of curiosity. May have to try a flow simulation of that one day.

    skid plate for my 74

I was looking for a way to help keep water/mud out of the engine bay. Keep things a bit cleaner, maybe slightly reduce the air drag. Could go full smooth bellypan with cutouts for the driveshafts.

4.10 gears and 31 inch tires?!?!?

Hmm.. I better go measure my old spare tire. Maybe it was a little smaller for the 1/2 ton 4x4's?

    Thought I had Dana 44 ? Help

Isn't the GM 10bolt pretty much like an updated version of the D44, but without really any strength or service life improvements?

    skid plate for my 74

Pulling up an old thread. How far forward/back did the splash guards go? Bumper to transmission?

4.10 gears and 31 inch tires?!?!?

Wasn't the stock tire size like a 28 or 29" tire?

What have you done to your square lately??

Alright cool stuff. I wanted to make bins the entire length of the bed. Using the center stake hole as a way to mount them in place. Still haven't quite decided on if I should divide em up or just leave them open.

What have you done to your square lately??

Ahhh! I thought you were doing one for insidethe engine bay. Does yours tuck up under the bed rail? Side door or a top lid?

    Mechanical to electric cooling fan

A thermostat is easy to swap out. If the kit has enough cfms, stays within your available amp rating, then i'd say you'll be fine. You can also swap out temperature sensors later as well just incase its not turning on at the correct time.

    Mechanical to electric cooling fan

If the fans are comparable specs and quality, but difference is two of a smaller versus two of a larger. I'd say its safe to assume the smaller duals will work better than a single large fan. If you compare two tiny fans or poor quality ones, the single expensive quality will probably always...

    Mechanical to electric cooling fan

With dual fans you get more surface area. If both the duals and single run at the same rpm, then the duals will cool more effectively. Also definitely need a shroud that directs air into the fan, so it pulls air from across the entire radiator.

    Opinions wanted

Clear led bulbs behind the amber lenses make them look yellow. Amber led with amber lens makes them look orange. My truck originally came with amber lenses. I swapped to clear lenses with switchback leds (White running lights and amber turn signals). I liked it a lot, but with my hellas it was...

Is it cranking, but not firing? Or are you turning the ignition with nothing happening?

What have you done to your square lately??

Just paid up the registration... $203 off to the gov't. Can you come wash my transfer case? Sure wish mine was that clean! Looks great. Anyone done a twin stick on an NP203? Gonna be quite the truck! Are you gonna go coilovers and 3/4-link or leaf springs in the front?

Dana 44 front wheel bearings need tightening?

Well the balljoints are the pivots, so if you over tighten them they'll bind up and make your steering tougher. Same thing with uniball/heim joints.
