    Which do you prefer??

Don't worry IMO I don't like either one, one bit! I think they look like shit! The reason I like these trucks so much is because of the way the wheel wells are shaped and doing that to these trucks is not very eye pleasing. If you want a Ford go buy one! LOL I just hate to see hacked bodies...

    6 or 4 inch lift

I have a 6" lift and still using the stock drive shaft 10 years later. If you have a 3/4 ton rear axle you can use the half ton drive shaft that narrows on both ends and use that to make up the difference. But only if using a 6 or 8" lift. The half ton drive shaft would be too long for a 4"...

    Transmission swap

A TH400 but you will need to find the TH400 4x4 adapter for the TH400. The 4spd manual adapter can not be used. If you wanna get a little crazy you could put a 4L80e in but it would require some modifications!

    Which headers?

Ideally for a TRUCK some stainless shorty headers would be the ticket or else the stainless tri Y Thorley headers. Money issues aside!

    Which do you prefer??

Oh ya your probably right! I have the new Double Cardan shaft, But I had to put the long slip yoke on it and it still doesn't last too long with the 6" lift. I just keep a couple laying around and rebuild them as I need lol. That's why I will always say that the 4" lift is the ideal lift height...

Saddle Tanks NOT near as dangerous as publicized !!!

When I was a kid one of my friends had both his parents die from a saddle tank rupture in an accident. It was pretty tragic. They actually had time to escape but there was no one to get them out as they were both unconscious and the accident happened out in the boonies. The other driver died as...

    Which do you prefer??

Ya the long beds track so much better going down the highway. The front drive shaft wont be any more of an issue though then on any other truck depending on how much its lifted, because on all models the front drive shaft is the same distance away from the front axle. The rear drive shaft is...

    dual shock option help

These are the part #s for ProComp ES series shocks. I used the ES3000 shocks and they do ride like a brick with out the weight of a BB. But they do look super cool compared to just single shocks. Lift height 5-7" ES1000 short/inner = #124502 long/outer = #125509..... rear = #129500 ES3000...

    Which do you prefer??

For a DD the K30 just because its a pickup. (A K30 is not the smoothest DD) The K5 for offroading anyday! And ya a 6" lift is not gonna clear 37s and I freakin hate cut up fenders! Might as well just drive a bush buggy then! Them wheel wells is what makes these old squares so attractrive! So...

    My 1991 v1500 suburban

They throw the geometry off and cause quite a bit more stress on the steering gear itself and the frame where the steering gear bolts to. the raised steering arm is slightly longer then the stock one so this will actually make it easier for the steering gear work. where as the dropped pitman...

what gears should i switch to?

I have been starting to think that 4:56s with a 700r4 and 33s would be a really good setup. Over all from stop to go it would perform pretty good and it wouldn't take much power to get it going. And the OD would be in a better spot for being able to tow in. How ever every time I start thinking...
