    Reverse light options

Sorry, brake light switch. Auto-generated predictive text on the phone thinks that I'm talking about a reverse switch still. Updated original post about the switch, silly phones lol.

    Reverse light options

I've got my solution installed, can't really get any pics of it because mother nature just blasted us with about 4" of snow here in central Mass. Used a street bike brake switch like in post #24 and just have it temporarily attached to the shifter bracket and the R/1 shifter linkage. She just...

whats every body using.. looking for a new stereo head unit

Depends on what your dash setup is. Did somebody before you hack into it and get it setup for a full face single din? Or still rocking the dual knobs? If you're running the dual knobs, go with Retrosound. Yeah it's going to be pricey, but you retain the stock look, but get the functionality of...

    Finally found some 5x5 Turbines!!!

Oh yeah, I can just imagine the colors you'd be seeing lol. I'm swinging into Napa tomorrow and grabbing some bottles of it. Seen some vids of it being used and looks like it's going to be my first swing at cleaning these wheels up. Want to try and keep the original finish and just clean off a...

    Finally found some 5x5 Turbines!!!

Thanks! Just slapped them in front of the stock rally for now to get an idea of what they'll look like and whoa Appreciate the heads up on that cleaner/brightener. Not fully sure if I'm going og look and just cleaning them up, fully polished or powdercoated. Basically depends on how much...

LED exterior light conversion! not going well :(

Usually it's the rheostat that fails most of the time just because the dimmer doesn't work at all or intermittently. Not a common piece to go bad, but it can happen and if it's feeling funky it's not a bad idea to swap it out.

    Finally found some 5x5 Turbines!!!

Found a guy locally selling a set of 5x5 Turbines in a 15" rim. Picking them up tomorrow, or Saturday. Anybody have a set of these on their rigs and have you done anything to them, polished/powdercoat etc?

LED exterior light conversion! not going well :(

Go back to incandescent bulbs and #1 rule of anything light/wiring related on these trucks are......say it with me class Check your grounds! Yes that's right, always check your grounds. These trucks are notorious for having ground issues that will and have caused a lot of grunting and...

    Frame & undercarriage advise!

I also recommend Fluidfilm or NH Oil. Being a daily driver, you'll want something that isn't going to seal in moisture and cause more problems down the road. Have friends and co-workers that use Fluidfilm and NH Oil and swear by them. Fluidfilm is a once year application and the NH Oil is...

What have you done to your square lately??

Had a 63 Galaxie 4 dr sedan for a while with the 352 FE motor. Ran great but dumped it for another project. 63 and 63.5 were all the one year models like the 64 is. Pretty much nothing from either side would fit it. Another part of the main reason I parted with mine. They're definitely a...

What’s the best way to fix/clean up this wiring problem?

Like everybody else has mentioned, figure out what goes where and what's it supplying power to in the first place. Secondly, after you've determined what's getting power, figure out what is priority over everything else. Now that you've done all the hard work, does the item(s) getting...

Cab swap 2wd to a4x4 frame

That bulkhead connector is all engine bay related accessories and components. That should be pink and black, color is faded. By the connector, looks like tach connector at the distributor cap.

    Reverse light options

Yeah, but in a red stronghold in this blue state so it's not all that bad . And yeah, that would definitely be fun to see the look on their faces. Almost as fun as droppimg 2 gears and dumping the clutch in my 99 LS1 6 spd powered Z28 on 495 .

What have you done to your square lately??

Thanks! Actually just used a bottle of propane and torch kit for soldering copper lines. Just took my time to get the desired look I wanted. Done it a few times on other projects so I had some previous experience, just not a lot. Haven't sealed it yet, weather in central Mass isn't exactly...

What have you done to your square lately??

Thanks! Just have them laying about in the bed and haven't hit them with any poly yet. Waiting for some better weather before that happens. 60 degree days here aren't the best for curing in Mass right now. Appreciate the heads up

    Highway vibration 55-65mph

Usually it's the first thing to check, alongside with the easiest. Then move to drivetrain and rotating assemblies (bearings/axles). Glad it was something as simple as that and guess that shop won't be getting any repeat business from you in the future.

What have you done to your square lately??

Finally got the old rotted 90% missing wood bed replaced with new planks and a custom torch finish. Rehab'd the old straps to keep some of it's former life & character intact. Just have to finish bolting her down.

    Reverse light options

Yeah the LS option is a few years down the road. Have a kid who's going to be looking at colleges this year and they're going into the medical field. So...... lol But the truck was originally a 250 I6 with a 3 on the tree so the reverse light switch is at the base of the steering column. So I'll...

Skool me on timing w/o timing tab

Obviously I was being silly, hard to convey that through the interwebs at times I guess. But yeah a timing light will help, but without the timing tab being installed, it's going to make it harder to do if you're not well versed in timing engines and not sure what to look for in signs and...

Best place to hook up vacuum gauge on Edelbrock carb (permanent and temporary)

I get that for sure. I've done most of my dialing in at about 2k rpm's with the throttle screw dialed in and tuned them to maximize the reading there. Haven't felt the need to have one connected full time while driving. But I can definitely see instances where that could be useful.

Best place to hook up vacuum gauge on Edelbrock carb (permanent and temporary)

Maybe I'm just too old school for that lol. Always went by drive and feel over any mechanical gauge, aside from oil pressure and temp. Definitely know I didn't buy any of my squares for fuel efficiency. Never had one that was economical by any means, especially my 71 full convertible or 80 full...

Skool me on timing w/o timing tab

Old skool method, do it by ear lol Adjust timing by how she runs. Does she bog down and feel sluggish under acceleration, adjust timing. Does she backfire, chug and knock when shutting it off, adjust timing.

Best place to hook up vacuum gauge on Edelbrock carb (permanent and temporary)

Agreed on putting a tee onto the back of the manifold behind the carb. Any reason on why you'd want a permanent mounted vacuum gauge? If you do permanently mount it, I would go with a hard line over any other tubing.
