    Testing the horn circuit

good job. same solution here. my horn stated flaking out, then quit. cleaned the terminal on the only horn mounted as well as the harness connector and that solved it.

    Mean sounding cams worth it?

if your quadrajet is working fine, leave it there. i had a booger'd quadrajet on mine and simply replaced it with a rebuilt (not by me) quadrajet. the only thing i did was adjust for maximum vacuum and set the 'sensitivity' of the secondary butterfly. very happy and plan to keep fuel running...

    Carpet vs vinyl

it's been awhile since i put my vinyl in. it has settled down a bit with summer heating it up and driving around etc etc. the instructions said it would but i had my doubts. the 'fit' over the humps and bumps was rough on mine as well but seems to get better as time goes on. good luck!

    How quick is your Square?

the flying turd is so quick it gets to where i'm going before i can even crank the ignition. (i gave up the quickness when i sold my honda 919) :(

    Auto-to-Manual Butcher Job

i'm old enough that what driving instruction i had, included what to do if your truck stalls on a railroad crossing. crank engine while in gear to move off the tracks. :) my '85 was missing the clutch safety switch when i got it. it's still missing just in case i stall out straddling train...

    Transmission lowering?

yes, it definitely increases the 'take off' angle. the lowering impact on the shaft is also minimal compared to the rear output. dunno why some things like that gain traction but like a fashion fad, people get convinced they 'gotta do it'. :)

    OPINION: Favorite Two-Tone Paint Schemes...

that's the one, or as close as i can figure. ;) my truck 'i think' is supposed to be indian bronze metallic. single tone. my wife likes the squares with the 2nd tone centered stripe. can't remember if that was an option for my year or only rocker panel stripe.

    4WD Lever Disassembly

if i remember correctly, i disconnected the linkage under the truck. i then unbolted the retainer (gated the lever assembly in the lever 'carrier/mount/housing). the lever itself came out easily by manipulating the pin/spring assembly. (spring was workable by hand) i unbolted the...

Legality of rolling back an odometer

yeah, every state is different. here in missouri: i plate the truck with historic plates for $35.00 i never pay anything to them again i never have to get a safety inspection i get 1000 miles a year for whatever i want i get unlimited miles to shows, educational events, mechanic. so, for my...

Legality of rolling back an odometer

different states = different 'rules'. i was VERY suprised at the relaxed standards to meet 'historic vehicle' plates here in missouri. i'm NOT complaining of course. :) i guess some states feel if they are going to give you a huge break on licensing fees and/or inspection requirements, they...

    Glove Box Wire

my 85 k20 is an ac truck. it has a 'contoured' glove box pocket and NO wire. the pocket catches the dash opening. you can just get some 'flex wire' and crimp some ring terminals i would guess. good luck

Legality of rolling back an odometer

i rolled mine back by replacing it with one off ebay that had 200 miles on it. :) mileage exempt on title so nobody cares here in missouri. good luck

Passenger side kick panel - what do these parts do?

i'm no expert so take what i say with a grain of salt. the parts you're dealing with 'determine' whether the air source (for your heating or cooling) comes from inside the cab or outside the cab (re circulation or 'fresh' air). the electrical wire/jewel is probably someone's idea of 'custom...

Front brakes lock up in panic stop

i patrolled the west german/czechoslovakian border in a cucv during the early 80s. i, along with other drivers, got sent to the adac. german driving school. they had a full skid pan, half skid pad (lane) etc. in one of the classroom lectures, the instructor demonstrated front brake lockup vs...

Front brakes lock up in panic stop

my 85 k20 super double xtra heavy duty (13" drums) has a functional load valve in the rear. as the bed is loaded down, it opens the valve more and more allowing more stop juice to the drums. so, in short, my rear drums don't lock up with no load. good luck to the op, i think the front lock up...
