    New stereo help…

the new radio has a constant power and a power turn on wire. constant power keeps the clock and memories. hook that up to the fuse block somewhere that is always hot. power turn on goes to key/acc on wire (dash opening) this 'signals' the radio to turn on but not intended to supply the higher...

    Clutch safety switch delete

i've posted this here on another thread: my driver's ed class had a 'tip' on what to do if you stall on a railroad track crossing. leave the 'car' in gear and crank the starter to get the vehicle off the tracks. -- so yes, i've learned or trained myself, or whatever to always, always, clutch...

    Extremely loose steering

i 'tightened' the adjuster on my steering box to remove the 'steering wheel left to right slop' action. a year later it's still good. good luck. 'monkey

Novice needs suggestions for new/rebuilt carb

i bought a rebuilt qjet off ebay. bolted on and never looked back. as for going to an electric choke version; you just need to run a wire to supply power to the electric choke. my 350 is from a '69 k20/30 and has the divorced choke intake but has an electric choke carb on it. still had the...

    What gears do I need?

my '85 k20 super double xtra duty has 3.73 and turns 35s and 31s pretty good. of course my commute to church only gets up to 55mph. (1969 350sbc, sm465, q-jet) if i had to re gear something else, i'd probably go with 3.73. where i live/where i drive, it's a good compromise for an old 350 truck...

Need help with 465 clutch adjustment

L and R will almost always grind. (especially if you're moving already or have a 'high' idle) they are UNsynchronized. 1,2,3 ARE synchronized. good luck

    Rally wheel weight

i drove an m113 in germany for a bit so i thought i could handle an m60a3 off the railhead no problem. when i took out a post, top wasn't happy. i told him it wasn't handling right, i could feel it was off. sure enough, there was a post-it note stuck to the right side of the turret. tellin'...

SM465 L-2-3-4, can't shift into 2nd unless completely stopped (solved)

my sm465 shifts into the 2nd forward gear pretty easy. under load, up or down. (i use the 1st forward gear to get going without stalling when stopped on a hill) i'm sure you'll get it lined out.

Can someone school me on carpet

i bought mine from rockauto but i'm pretty sure 'everyone' sells the same thing. the grain of the vinyl IS THERE but in my opinion is pretty shallow. i haven't had an issue with caking or retention of 'crap' causing the floor to look gray instead of black. the vinyl flooring in a box came...

Can someone school me on carpet

i'm really happy with the molded vinyl so far. came with a pad for the front 'foot wells'. tough vinyl type material rather than 'stretchy' rubbery type material. i have carpet floor mats (from a generic compact car) for bare feet so best of both worlds for my work/farm k20 super double xtra...

    Shelf it storage shelf

i had one in a dakota. 91/92 loved it. didn't like that the visors mounted 'flipped' but got used to it. i've been considering one for my 85 super double xtra heavy duty k20. no worries about vision obstruction i think. good luck and let me/us know how it goes.

day long drive to pickup a new crf300l

talking about motorcycles the last half year has really gotten under my skin. i've ridden inline four cylinder machines for 40 years. love the sewing machine smoothness and power to weigh ratio. those machines were all 'standards'. meaning you rode 'straight up' more or less. not bent over...

    Ring and pinion gear ratio

yup, big difference between a big block under the hood. my k20 super double xtra heavy duty has a very nice 1969 4 bolt 350. it likes the 3.73 with 35x12.50R15 OR stocks on 16" because it is NOT a big block. it has the sm465 with the 'pep' i have, i'm confident i could go to 3.42 and be fine...

    Oil pressure gauge pegged high

my 85 has 2 different devices connected with a 't' to the engine. one is an idiot light connection and one is a gauge connection. sender vs sensor ? anyway, my oil gauge was pegged until i connected it to a new sender. (it was previously unconnected as the 350 had been swapped with an older...
