the axle tube stamp will tell you pretty quickly. just get a wire brush and clean up the passenger side tube to find the stamped code.

    K20 c6p rear axle questions

yes, my 85 k20 super double xtra heavy duty is C6P as well nice 13" drums but a semi-floater. docs from the maker says 3/4 trucks got semi regardless of options and 1 tons got the sticky-outy full floater. (in the year range we're talking about) regardless of what i think, it has what it has...

    K20 c6p rear axle questions

sounds right! they definitely put the ff in the 3/4 in the earlier trucks. it'll be sweet regardless (the only thing i would get hung up on is the switch in parking/e-brake backing plates that changed from earlier to later trucks)

New motor... from 250 to 350

nothing wrong with a good 350 transplant but the way you describe your truck, i'd leave the six in it. i'd spend my project money on the other things you listed. a locker in the rear of a 2wd might help out in a slick spot. cosmetics are always nice. i drove an f100 without assisted brakes so...

    6 lug conversion

this is just a post about 8 lug brake setup in back, nothing more. my 85 k20 super double xtra heavy duty has the 13" drums in back. after i rebuilt them, i got a load of sand put in the back. like a million pounds worth. the rear brakes had no trouble stopping that load. 60mph to 5mph xtra...

Dumb down headlight relays for me.

yup, that's quite a bit of loss. i don't have anywhere near that on mine. that's why i 'figured' reducing path loss, as i stated in my post, wouldn't do much. if the OP situation is like yours, then absolutely.

Dumb down headlight relays for me.

i'll jot some things down, hopefully it'll help you decide on a path. relays allow a 'stock' switch that CAN'T handle much 'power' to use a load (super power headlights) that requires more. relays, in this case, wouldn't do much of anything for stock headlights or stock spec headlights. in...

    CB Radio Antenna Recommendations?

anything other than a 102" steel whip will be a compromise. so armed with that knowledge, ANYTHING will do. lil will magnet mount, 3/8-24 stud mount on the bed rail, whatever you think 'goes best' with your vehicle. good luck!

    Headlight options for 84 K10

'trim' level option. my '85 k20 super double xtra heavy duty has single headlights. it's a custom deluxe level trim. the base level :) k trucks can certainly have dual headlights depending on the trim level it left the factory with. good luck! 'monkey

    Cab swap will it fit?

the floor hump 'kinda' goes like this. 4wd will always have a high hump. (transfer case) 2wd manual trans will have high hump. (manual trans) 2wd auto trans will have a low hump. (nothing there needing a high hump) so this issue is driveline rather than 1/2,3/4,1ton really. good luck.

    454 stumbles at 2500 rpm

my vote is an ignition problem. when the time between sparks diminishes, the problem arises. so i'm GUESSING there is trouble in spark delivery. had this trouble in a motorcycle. low rpm smooth running, higher rpm stumble like a 'rev limiter'. turned out the harness from the stator was...

electric switch on shifter, need ideas

i'd use a latching relay so i COULD USE A MOMENTARY switch. then: the relay would handle any current requirement. the momentary switch could be as minuscule as i wanted/needed with matching small gauge wiring. result: tiny switch that you push to engage and push to disengage. (same height of...

    Fm radio not working

+1 the above. also, the am antenna is 'usually' a ferrite rod wrapped in enameled wire INSIDE the radio. the fm antenna connects to the radio's antenna port. i have plenty of 'pigtail' wires with that moto connector on it. i'd try another antenna with the radio to see if that made any change...
