Fun fact, Schwab basically charges just as much for their “house” brands as well. Speaking for light truck tires as I am frequently part of the conversation or approving expenses for the fleet as well. Last check w/Schwabs a few years ago, after they dropped Toyo and went with the 2 “house”...- Grit dog

Case in point, my (very lucky) son was given a Schwabs gift certificate for new tires by his very generous hockey family. The best tires they have, the rebranded Deans, nice tires, were like $375/ea plus m&b. By comparison, same size Toyo AT3s, basically the gold standard for AT tires are <$300...- Grit dog

Good luck. Unless somehow Yakima has the last competent Les Schwabs that doesn’t literally overcharge for everything including their house brands of re branded Dean or Korean tires. That place has taken over from Firestone as the absolute biggest ripoff tire and brake shop chain on the planet…...- Grit dog

Been back in the upper Midwest a couple times in the last month or so and the % of 10-20 year old vehicles that are just completely wasted already or well on their way is staggering. Like Alderton WA, just down the road here? Sure you can find rusty cars anywhere but this is literally one of if not the best area of the country for little to no rust. (Wet side anyway. E of Cascades is rustier but generally 1000% better than the salt belt). This thing sat outdoors for...- Grit dog

Totally agree. But doubtful he even gets a response from the seller. 10-15 years ago it was sometimes plausible that someone “didn’t know how to attach pics”. Now it’s just a sign that it’s fake or weirdo or no response.- Grit dog

Never can tell without seeing in person, but aside from the hole cut in the dash, I don’t see anything that says that ain’t worth the price he’s asking. Lift options and recommendations for a 1980 Jimmy
How much is the axle moved forward. It’s not even noticeable. I need to do that as well. Even w 5” of lift it is tight with the 35s and wheel offset. Just haven’t but I slapped in zero rates to get it up a little. Once I move the sway bar and get the driveshaft lengthened I can shift it forward.- Grit dog

Ok ya. With just drop spindles though the steering geometry doesn’t change nor does the spring rate. And the slight difference in track width either way depending on who’s spindles you use, still allows for most all reasonable tire and wheel combos.- Grit dog

83 K20 GEAR RATIO
According to the vehicle info kit with all the options, 4.56s were available in 80s K20s. Plus I recall having one, back in the day. Was an 81 or 82. Base model K20, 350 and 4.56s. Not swapped.- Grit dog

Pretty open ended question. Not to mention we have no idea what your capabilities and resources are. I think a 12v or 24v swap would be great in a K20. I wouldn’t waste the WiFi even thinking about downgrading to a 6.2. Especially at altitude where you may well drive. Mileage will be nice...- Grit dog

That’s the difference between car guys or hot rod guys and guys who still are using an old truck for real truck things or just stuck in the past. 1/3 hardly seems worth breaking out the wrenches. And as said above, no, it won’t ride “rougher”. But the F44s have a stout spring pack. You could do rear shackle drop and lose a couple more inches easy AND soften up the rear by removing some leafs. Overload will give you almost an inch. Pull...- Grit dog

Beg to differ. Sure if you’re just cuttin coils and hillbilly lowering. Any flavor of quality drop spindles with stock springs will basically ride the same. Period. No recent experience with drop springs for these trucks, but again the right quality parts = quality ride.- Grit dog
