Lotsa nice squares on CL out here right now!

Hell yeah! So many nice ones up here. If you were taking pics of every “I spy a squarebody” truck you see, your phone would run out of memory…. It’s not a total secret anymore though. Car hauler broker guy that I use, just shipped that old Dodge pickup back east and brought my son’s car home...

    Bed finish?

There are adhesion promoters but again make sure compatible. I’d just spend an hour or 2 with a couple pieces of schotch brite personally.

    Bed finish?

Depends on the re-coat time for the epoxy but I’m betting you’re already past that whatever it is. No you can’t generally paint over cured paint/primer of any sort without scuffing it or it will be more likely to peel. Gotta follow the instructions for the material or at least use good...

    Door weatherstrip

^Hucks is how they’re supposed to look. And they ain’t perfect and they don’t sit down totally flat. And only overlap the top edge of the door metal by about half.

    Larger steel wheels

Bout the same as my 20x9 Detroits. All show no go…. I don’t remember the exact numbers but the 35” Red letter grabbers I got to go with them were literally the heaviest light duty vehicle tire I’d ever picked up. I ran the numbers compared to my Ram with 37” Toyos and whatever gay ass brodozer...

    Larger steel wheels

Not because they are dinky but because they weren’t outfitted with good tires. And basically only come in one size. Regardless, maybe not the right comparison but doesn’t matter as the OP likely has a 5 lug truck (or possibly 8, only clue he gave was the smaller dog dish cap). Have never seen...

    Door weatherstrip

The rubber lip on the outside of the outside window bottom seal laps over the top edge of the window opening/sheet metal. If that’s what you’re referring to. And fwiw, every other seal, the side window channel felt, wing windows and windshield/back glass all seemed too long at first but they...

    Larger steel wheels

They do. And are nice quality. Unfortunately they’re mostly/all smaller diameter steelies. But assuming the OP has a half ton since he wants to use the 10” hubcaps, they have a pile of 5 lug wheels with some in 17” and maybe 18” select styles.

    Larger steel wheels

No, they are not spare tires. Although more akin to a donut spare than a normal spare tire/wheel combo.

    CA Smog exemption

Moreso I think it’s that classic/collector car insurance is just not the best application for you and your vehicles. Same with me. I get a good ACV for the 86 and very reasonable $amount for the premium… as a pleasure use vehicle. (Not a commuter).

    Larger steel wheels

Yes. And like huck said, Detroit Steel Wheels and US Wheel both make what the OP is looking for.

    Larger steel wheels

That’s not really a viable option. Maybe Canadian trucks still come on transport wheels though?

Replacing rear axle on 83 k5

@BryanS that Blazer is really nice! I remember you posting those pics. Looks like someone used 88-91 bumpers front and rear with some 80s side molding to over the holes on the front. Looks clean like that. I wouldn’t rule out all options and see what you find. Wouldn’t be too outrageous to swap...

Help with rim purchase for lifted 78' K10

Rim size is largely irrelevant. Tire width, height and rim width/offset are the determining factors. I understand it pretty well and I still find it useful to draw the options compared to whatever baseline you’re using. Or more accurately calc the difference in height /offset In general you...

Gas to Diesel swap, question on fueling

^Im not an expert on IDI engines either. And never will be but from all the other diesels I’ve been around and worked on, they only need minimal positive pressure to the injection pump so not a big concern about fuel pressure upstream of the IP. This is half supposition since idk idi lol...

Replacing rear axle on 83 k5

^Well it sounds like it’s got decent power. My otherwise stock gen vi 454 converted to carb “should” be around 300hp….I think. It would posi squeal the old crusty 35s pretty easy. Not so much with new tires now. But from what you said, your overall plan seems to support a heavier duty axle for...

Gas to Diesel swap, question on fueling

^This doesn’t make sense to me. First, a 1981 Chevy has fuel being pulled thru the tank valve. Like every other truck before efi. Second, it doesn’t matter to the pollack valve anyway. Push or pull. Also, practically, there’s no reason imo an original Chevy valve would be restrictive anyway. If...

    87 or 89 Unleaded?

After you’re sure it’s timed and tuned properly, the lowest octane that doesn’t cause pre-ignition, pinging, is the right answer. Or dieseling. Although dieseling can be caused by other things aside from the need for more octane. IMO there isn’t a factory 80s 350 made with enough compression to...

Replacing rear axle on 83 k5

Your overall question is lacking enough info to answer. Just because it’s a 454 doesn’t mean it has the power to be snappin axles. And even if it does, are you using it in a manner to be snappin axles? What transmission? If it’s an original 700r4, it will be the weak link. If it’s a built...

    Which aftermarket LED headlights?

So thinking about upgrading to some decent headlights one or both square body’s. Kind of looks like the top three are Holly retro Bright, RMS, or HE. All seem very similar. I think one of them has glass lenses. Haven’t compared bulbs, but all are similarly priced. Opinions?

Towing a diesel 2500 Burb on a 17’ flatbed trailer

Huh? We are talking about a square burb. A dually rim has a greater offset than the width of the rim, so the brand/model of truck doesn’t really matter, it will just set the wheel so far in, that it’s bound to hit ****.

Spare tire carrier? DONE, installed an in bed carrier

It will be very sturdy. Considering that a bungee through the rim (if your rim has holes high enough, attached to the bed rail lip, or a single bolt drilled through the bed rail lip and snugged up on a lug hole will hold a tire fine, this mount is very sturdy.

    Reinforcing Door Striker

Based on this description the symptom is either striker too far outward or door seal smushed and not taking up the slop in the latch/striker. The strikers did originally have a plastic bushing. And iirc they are a bit thinner than pex. Slap a piece of pex on first. That extra 1/16”ish of...

Towing a diesel 2500 Burb on a 17’ flatbed trailer

Good in theory but pretty sure the rim will hit the steering arm or spindle/ball joint whatever is closest behind the rotor.

    Reinforcing Door Striker

Nothing more to know. 1/2” pex works great. Split the pex and slide it over the striker. No need to remove striker. But rattling sounds more like worn hinges, bad door seal and/or mis adjusted striker. The plastic bushing just helps it close easier.
