    Driver’s door decals

There’s an improved ride section? If you’re looking to improve the ride there is really only 2 distinct things you can do. First, run the proper min pressure for the load. If you’ve got an empty truck, you’re looking at 25-35psi rear max depending on tire size. And 35-50 front. Again small tires...

    Driver’s door decals

Looks like all the same info as the top sticker? But you’re totally right based on the outlines of the sticker in my photo.

What have you done to your square lately??

Took out the power window regulator out of the 77 last night. It had been removed before and I assumed someone replaced the motor as there’s a couple missing bolts and it was misaligned. I diagnosed a “bad” motor previously. What I found was the original Delco motor that works beautifully and...

What have you done to your square lately??

I’m too fckin cheap. Hahaha Although it’s getting hard to find a place that will sell a diy’er torsion springs. One kickass hardware store sells them. Limited availability. Found one once there that worked. Last time, called around and a local garage door guy agreed to sell me one. I had all...

It’s not difficult nor dangerous imo. as long as you don’t let go while winding it up.

    Frame & undercarriage advise!

Wauconda! Small world. I grew up in Grayslake. If you’re cleaning it up then it makes sense to paint it. May as well get a paint gun. You’ll be buying stuff by the case if you rattle can. But up to you. Pressure wash. De grease. Wash again Completely. Get any flaking rust down to solid...

    Tire/wheel recommendations

Sounds like you’re still hung up on that new fangled terminology and some notion that the math involved is somehow involved. Or maybe haven’t shopped for aftermarket wheels or looked at the descriptor of OE wheels in decades. Backspacing is almost never used in the description. It is in...

    Good ground for amp?

No issue with that. IF the cab has sufficient grounds. IE, you’re not grounding more than the current (no pun intended) path back to battery can handle. Rule of thumb ground need the same capacity as the source (+). If you’re just hooking up one little amp, likely fine. If you’ve got some real...

    GMC Hood Ornament

^Great work! And to add to your justification for the time spent, I bought a new repop GMC hood ornament for the boys 86. It is going on 3 years old and has seen only a few months of being parked outside and no real weather to speak of and it’s already beginning to look like poop under the...

    Tire/wheel recommendations

Or maybe I missed your point which is also possible. And not that backspacing isn’t the simple description of wheel position relative to the hub. But that many wheels are only listed with offset so at some point there’s a little math to be done. Regardless And yes max allowable backspacing is a...

    Brakes still dont work.

^On the contrary you seem extremely talented with what you’ve done to the truck so far. Don’t sell yourself short. Even if you’ve had some help you know more than 99.9% of guys your age. My point was, which I was not clear was don’t mess around with old leaky parts when new ones are cheap and...

Lol. I must be dreaming every time I see a wheel spec that has offset listed…. Anyone? I must be the only one.

    Brakes still dont work.

I’m having a hard time figuring out how you lifted a 2wd rebuilt the transmission, paint and body, all this major work and you’re somehow unable to understand buying a master cylinder, bleeding it and installing it. So you’re driving around with brake fluid leaking out of an old mc with the...

    Tire/wheel recommendations

Not sure what you’re getting at here. As the terms are essentially interchangeable. Albeit one has to understand the difference in the two terms. (Which you do, of course) 0 offset on a 6” wide wheel will put the tire in the same spot as 0 offset on a 12” wide wheel. However that’s a big...

    Tire/wheel recommendations

Rim width is a secondary part of the equation though, depending on wheel offset and of course tire size. 4” lift half ton is perfect for 33s with 0 offset. Could go a little more neg backspacing and still work on the street. New springs and depending what brand and type and weight of front end...

    Overheating 87 TBI

^Leaning towards plugged cooling passages as well. Old unknown engine. I had a 1999 vehicle recently. Heater core had probably a half lb of gunk in it. Dunno what the engine had, and never checked because it didn’t overheat. But that same gunk had to be present everywhere. Idk how to do a good...

Precision windshield gasket, self locking or lock strip?

Maybe I got lucky. First and only square body windshield. Successful install. No sealant used, no leaks, no broken glass. Although me and my son had to walk away after a couple hours and tackle it again later before we DID break something! lol. Only minor fubar is I scuffed the chrome on the...

Lotsa nice squares on CL out here right now!

Apples to apples burbs are considerably less than pickups here too. 2wd burbs even in good to great condition seem to be almost worth more in parts. Not a demand for them.

    tailgate/cab band trim repair

^Theyre double layer plus the full length mounting bracket so idk how one would easily pound out a dent or ding. I hire my thought bout it and determined it would require cutting and welding possibly and bending to remove the face or skin. The cab trim is not double wall though.
