18x10 front and 18x12 rear who's done this? Look inside.

I know. They just look bigger with them super low profile small diameter tires.

    Replacement doors?

AMD is likely your best bet for aftermarket. Forum member @TotalyHucked works there. He can advise. Personally I’d look for takeoff doors. Dime a dozen in the desert. Repop panels are for people who aren’t lucky enough to live where good OE sheetmetal still exists IMO. Not sure your concern...

Trying to identify this color of blue

There was no navy blue pearl offered for squarebody era GMs and certainly not on the trucks. There was factory dark blue 29 and dark blue metallic 31. This is 29. If you’re looking for an OE color that is a dark navy with metallic and pearl, look at Chrysler Patriot blue pearl. Early 2000s...

    High Pressure Fuel pump install

The electric sump system is an interesting and cool solution. Could be a great easy solution if one already has a solid fuel system upstream of the engine and a mechanical pump. The OPs BPE 350 block may not have been mfg with a mechanical pump option though. In which case I’d likely shy away...

    High Pressure Fuel pump install

While there’s no need to buy BPEs kit, it will not be a problem to put it just downstream of the switching valve, fairly confident. Buddy is doing the same to feed a big LS in his pickup and BPE said it will pull from the tank. Just keep it low and close to the tanks. Personally, I’d be torn...

18x10 front and 18x12 rear who's done this? Look inside.

Must be the width or?? Because those orange 18s look like 20s. Buddy has 18s on 2 of his c10s. Not near as wide. They don’t look “big”. If that’s the look you’re going for, don’t need forum approval. That’s basically bait for the boomers who think anything that doesn’t look like the 70s or...

    1974 c10 didn’t start-fuel problem?

Re-reading your post, so it runs now with a half tank of fuel? Do you not know which tank is being pulled from? Does it switch tanks on command? Fuel gauge working? Honestly the repairs themselves whatever may be the problem, are fairly straightforward. Idk what diagnosis information you may...

    1974 c10 didn’t start-fuel problem?

If you’re really after a paper repair manual, I’d suggest a library? Idk if they still have em. That’s where I’d find one back in the day. I have manuals that cover your truck model but they’re buried somewhere. That said, start at the carb and work your way back, imo. Filter/screen on carb...

What have you done to your square lately??

They are curious things. Some will wobble and drip or just wobble and grumble for what seems forever. And others will just schitt out without warning. Not exclusive to squares or any vehicle with a belt driven water pump. It’s one of those parts that I usually throw a new part at if I have an...

What have you done to your square lately??

Only thing I’ve done to the squares lately is use the blue one to transport Xmas decorations from the shop to the house. And since the boy got home he’s been driving it daily. Missed his truck!

Old man constantly asked to drop his truck.Any stock height C10s left in the world??

@legopnuematic yeah I also like the work truck look of 31s on a half ton. Looks tough. But I liked my C10 with the stock hubcaps and pizza cutters too. Like you it’s tough to not like most styles. All have their significance. Some folks are just too much of stuffed shirts. Merry Christmas!!

That pic is distorted. Similar to what a mild drop would look like. Because it’s bone stock with all the heavy rear springs still.

Old man constantly asked to drop his truck.Any stock height C10s left in the world??

I dig the stock height on the 77. The pipes make it look a bit lower imo. That said, the only reason it don’t have a 3/4 or 3/5ish drop is lack of spare time.

Both look great! I might change them out seasonally, lol, for a fresh look if I had those 2 options sitting on the floor.

    8 lug slots...?

Yup you nailed it. Just looked them up. The Scottsdale are the rally look aluminum cast wheels. They’re $350/ea 20s and 22s only. I thought they were much more $ but US Mags has forged vintage wheels too that are $1000+.

    fixing hood hinges

Never really investigated it since I hadn’t been in a squarebody in 25 years until a few years ago. But as I recall, it was pretty common in 70s trucks back then. Had a couple 70s squares in the fleet at work when I was in high school. Put new hood hinges on one. (And installed some homemade...

    fixing hood hinges

I’ll take my chances, lol. That said I need to get braces for the 77. Hood is perfect and opens and closes like butter, but I cringe a little every time I close it carefully. As with most of our lives, pretty strong chance that a reinforced squarebody hood ain’t what’s gonna take us out...

    8 lug slots...?

I feel like those are a new(er) offering from Vision. And a great price for alloys and big n little sizes and all lug patterns. Someone at Vision is listening to what squarebody guys want. It was only 6mo ago ish when I was looking for wheels for the 77 and don’t recall those. There is another...

What have you done to your square lately??

Man, I got a buddy who I hired, used to say the same chit. Like “****** I woke up this morning, thought a bear was in my bedroom but it was just the wife bending over with no underpants on! Had to go get her a new pair made down at the canvas and awning shop…” He is a wrinkly skinny dude who...

    Show your daily driver

So, you kinda like those trucks? A little bit anyways? Lol As far as I’m concerned, GMT 400s were and are still about top of the heap for a balance of reliability, simplicity and comfort. I had a ‘90 Z71 I bought in college. Flogged that truck. Saw it later in life with a GN horse trailer...

    Gas to diesel

^This. While I can’t imagine a world where I’d want one, the mpgs are what got me thinkin about diesels. Growing up in the era of 6-9mpg being “normal”, seeing the 6.2 knock down 20mpg in a full size truck was intriguing. I was just more interested in getting speeding tickets and loud exhaust...

    Steering Correction

Confirmed, 4” lift squarebody, OE driveshaft length is fine. Possibly save for some extreme articulation. I’ve got 5” front lift now and the front spline engagement is slightly suspect. 6” lift, a spacer or preferably longer front driveshaft is necessary.

    Eastwood Versus POR15

Can’t wait to see a truck on that frame someday! You make some good points. 1 being, powder coat isn’t any better. It won’t get into the inaccessible surfaces that water and chlorides can. So POR with the right top coat, powder, paint, it’s all about the same because it’s the places you can’t...

    Eastwood Versus POR15

If you’re going through the process of blasting it clean to bare steel, you don’t want rust reformer type coating, you want paint. Clean bare steel should get an etching or epoxy primer or any flavor of direct to metal or direct to rust type paint. Any surface that gets blasted decently and...
