Look at that, my favorite year and model truck. Welcome to the asylum.

    Glide out spare tire carrier

One of my favorite personal peeves. The spare tire carrier. Glide out carrier is demonstrated in this dealer video at 12:57: The two crossmember pieces, one ahead of and one behind were there to support the tire. I @$$ume to keep it from rocking. If you didn't order a spare when you bought...

    Quadrajet bog

I had the same thing happen to the pickup tubes on my Oldsmobile 455. Cross drilled them and put them back. Restored that delightful moan. What more can you want from a 1969 carburetor?

    Quadrajet bog

It can happen. Press the tubes back in. I don't remember what to do about the cam, but I'm sure it's fixable. My Q-jet book is at the shop so if you can wait until Monday I can check that out for you. There was a thing about cross-drilling the pickup tubes too. They did it on the Cobra-Jet...

    Front Sway Bar Brackets

My OCD kinda compels me to answer this, and I'm going to point out that, you did ask.... It's a portmanteau word composed of "static" and "friction". So "stiction" is correct. Now go look up portmanteau. ;)

No spacers on mine. Are you sure you have the right bushings?

K20 shocks? Single or dual front and brand?

Yeah, but Quads look way cooler! FWIW, if you look at the GM parts book the quad shocks have different part numbers than the dual shocks. If you look at most aftermarket catalogs they use the same main shock in both applications and just add a second shock for the quads.

    Rear Diff Leak

Any time you use a sealer like RTV Silicone or Great Stuff try to have enough time between assembly and final tightening to let the sealer cure. I finally got the aftermarket chrome diff cover on the Suburban to stop leaking by doing a thorough cleaning, assembling it just slightly snug and...

What have you done to your square lately??

Smart man. You have no idea how many people I see tear into a snotty POS with all kinds of road grit and slime on it. It not only makes them gross to work on, it pretty much guarantees you're going to contaminate the job. Someone pre-cleaning is the exception when it should be the rule.

What have you done to your square lately??

People rag on drum brakes on cars, probably all from bad experience with unassisted systems on older cars. Most people don't realize that big trucks are primarily equipped with drum brakes and they provide plenty of stopping power for a lot of weight. Biggest thing is proper adjustment, and on...

    Transfer case support bracket

Chevy bolt pattern shouldn't change on a small block. I know the LS engines are missing one of the bolts, but otherwise the pattern is still the same.

    Transfer case support bracket

That's where the factory put it. Get a longer bolt and make sure the rod sits all the way on the bellhousing.

What have you done to your square lately??

I was just thinking whatever would hide the most sins. I do like the idea of the hot pink 14 bolt though. It would certainly be a good safety feature.

What have you done to your square lately??

You should try putting it on the rest of the truck.

    Timing vs. harmonic balancer?

I'd still recheck the firing order of your plug wires. Replacing all that stuff shouldn't have that significant an effect on timing. Either that or you have a faulty component. And how about the cap? You didn't mention replacing the cap.

    Steering Stabilizer - K20

I don't think it's dirt, because the seals have a wiper for that. I think it's corrosion from exposure to atmospheric moisture that cuts the seal. I know the rods are chrome plated to prevent that, but we all know that chromed surfaces can still rust. Look at bumpers. It's probably just...

    Steering Stabilizer - K20

That's correct. Hard right it's fully compressed and the rod isn't exposed. All the failures I've had have been seal leaks and I felt it was from corrosion on the rod cutting the seal. That's on a K. Not sure what the configuration is on a C, but the concept should be the same. YMMV.

    Steering Stabilizer - K20

I agree with Reckless. They're not supposed to fight you in either direction. And I've never had a decent stabilizer that lasted more than a few years. Particularly not since I stopped DDing the truck. However, I find that parking with the wheels cranked all the way right helps a bit.

Is there any hope for these tools?

Instead of muriatic acid try to find phosphoric acid. It's much milder, it strips the iron off the surface of the metal which helps prevent future rust and leaves it with something closer to a parkerized finish. I think some of the concrete preps are phosphoric. Read the labels.

Is there any hope for these tools?

There's always hope. I saved a bunch of stuff that was underwater in Sandy and still use them today. Lots of ways to deal with it. Evaporust, wire wheel, Scotch Brite, whatever is convenient for you. And WD-40 is one of your best friends.

The power distribution center is probably under the hood. You might have better luck there.

    Seized Brake Drum '78 C30 - HELP!

If it's stuck to the shoes you should be able to pick up a slight amount of movement because of slack in the assembly. If not there may be more to it. Let us know how the unloosening goes.

    Seized Brake Drum '78 C30 - HELP!

When you say seized you mean it's stuck to the shoes and won't turn, or as above you're just trying to pull the drum off? If it's stuck to the shoes you can try to go through the backing plate port and push the adjuster lever out of the way and back off the star wheel to allow the shoes to...
