    Rear Brakes Locking Up

Just to clarify. A combination valve includes a proportioning valve. Don't know if adding another one to the equation would cause issues or not.

    Rear Brakes Locking Up

Here's a wild concept. How about you take yours apart and give it a looksy. You never know what you'll find.

    Rear Brakes Locking Up

It could be either way. Some of the lighter weight trucks have the front brake reservoir and piston is in the back; heavier chassis trucks seem to have the front reservoir and piston in front. Usually, the fronts have the bigger reservoir of the two. Also, they use different size fittings to...

    Rear Brakes Locking Up

From the manual: Doesn't provide a lot of answers, but at least you can see what all is in there.

    Rear Brakes Locking Up

There's always confusion about what these valves are and what they do. It's called a combination valve because there's three different valves in there. The front brake portion is a residual pressure valve. It allows the drums to apply first, then once a couple hundred psi have built up it...

    R30 front brakes

Not necessarily. But the size of the rear drums will tell you what brake spec your truck has, which will tell you which fronts to order.

    Hydroboost - Hard Pedal

I'd have to crack the manual again. It's been a long time. My recollection is the accumulator is there to maintain some braking assist in case of an engine stall or hydraulic assist system failure. So you probably could have dumped the fluid pressure with multiple brake applications. The...

    Hydroboost - Hard Pedal

Hydroboosts have a pressure accumulator which usually needs to be drilled to vent accumulator pressure to make it safe. I'm glad you didn't get hurt, but next time maybe RTFM. We also have the Internet these days, you know.

How does this sort of thing happen????

I'm not in the auto repair field, but I was in the mechanical repair field, and I've seen it from both sides. I'm curious tho, what profession you're in and if there are any bad actors? Or are you living in Theory where everything is perfect? Are there rip-offs in auto repair? Sure. But...

    6.5 turbo into a 83 c1500

The intake isn't a really big issue, you'll just have to be creative. The rest of the engine package is comparable to a 6.2L and in many cases, a gas engine. It's all GM.

    6.5 turbo into a 83 c1500

Is your truck air conditioned? That's the first problem. Then there's exhaust. The A/C is a significant issue. The exhaust you can figure out. Most of the rest of it is one for one. Well, there's the air intake,....

What new tools have you got lately?

Not exactly a truck tool. The back popped off the wife's wristwatch. While attempting to put it back on she managed to cut the O-ring that seals the back. While I was doing my usual Amazon/eBay, "where can I get this part?" thing, a suggestion popped up for a tool kit for servicing watches...

What have you done to your square lately??

Sounds like a rear brake circuit leak to me. Look for a puddle or a drip.

Hello, my name is Derek, and I have Just joined this page, trying to find some good information on working on my new 1978 k30

Welcome, and congratulations on spelling Derek correctly. Sorry I can't help with the radio, but a pic would help the people here that can, to identify which model radio you have. Good luck.

    Diesel Injection Pump

If it didn't break off flush, you might be able to Vise-Grip it and use some heat on the housing. Unfortunately, they usually break off flush. I've drilled a lot of broken screws out of those housings over the years. It's challenging because steel screw and soft aluminum with little margin for...

    Diesel Injection Pump

About 10-15 psi in normal operation. Give it a try, but as opposed to "a three-legged stool never wobbles," a two-screwed cover probably won't seal.

What have you done to your square lately??

We had a spring let go and it punched a hole in the far garage wall sheetrock. I understand that they put a cable through the center of them nowadays to contain it if it fails. Tension springs, not torsion springs, obviously.

What have you done to your square lately??

These critical pieces aren't inconsequential. As my wife keeps reminding me, "It's the little things." I'm hoping she's talking about attention to detail.

What have you done to your square lately??

I feel your pain. :( If those are metal, I've had good luck with pre-heating pieces to about 80° before spraying, and then cooking them at around 110-120° afterwards. Baked enamel finish. You just have to be careful with temperature control. You can end up with a wrinkle finish if you're not...

Eratic behavior from a 1985 6.2. Requesting help please

Yeah, air. You've already gotten good advice on tracking it down. All I can offer is when you're cranking it and trying to purge the air to start it, don't pump the throttle. It's not a carburetor. Go to WOT and hold it so it's trying to deliver maximum fuel. That will help it bleed itself...

    Detroit Diesel!

Every manufacturer has a plan to sell special tools. My biggest problem with CAT is their prices. They've been turning cast iron into gold by painting it yellow since 1924. However, beyond that their support is quite good, parts availability and technical info is very available and so far my...

    Detroit Diesel!

BTW, when you watch this video, YouBoob then recommends this video: At about 8:52 they show a CAT technician calibrating a 3208 injection pump on a Bosch test bench. It's nice to know I used the right equipment when I did the injection pumps on my boat:

Only the 5.7 and 8.2 as GM's worst diesels? Clearly he's never heard of a Toro-Flow.

    Detroit Diesel!

GM is always going to tell you how great the product is. They raved about the Olds diesel too. The free-standing cylinder liners were a bad idea. It had no block deck, kind of like Cadillac's 4100 except the liners were replaceable.
