    Dual Battery

Okay if that solenoid is triggered via a toggle switch. Dirt simple, disconnect dead battery negative cable, hook a jumper cable from good battery positive to junk battery positive. Do your lights etc work? If so great, move on, move the jumper cable from dead battery positive to the unused large...

    Homemade and modified tool thread

Socket Stringers. This morning I had an idea, this is the rough draft. Socket stringers you can throw in a backpack and when you get to the junkyard all your sockets are in one place and in order instead of knocked off Socket rails and laying in the bottom. Will make color coded for metric vs...

    V2500 frame compatibility and advice.

Still that guy in the intro section, that has a burnt v2500. Maybe a player on a decent body and interior.

    Dual Battery

I don't know that that is not continuous duty,at this point we don't even know if it works. The checks I asked him to make will tell us. If it works I'd use it until it doesn't work. Then we can worry about what to replace it with. At this point we need to see if it works.

    Help please

When did you adjust the lifters? What was your procedure? Did the truck run okay before you changed the carbureator? Why did you change the carbureator. I ambwrongbevery single word of this, blind, because there is a big population for a grocery store covering my entire screen. I hope my post is...

    Dual Battery

That solenoid appears to be,or was used as a battery isolator. If you get me better pics, and if possible any terminal markings on it. I'd bet you I can tell you how to wire it up,or replace it with a $10.00 relay. No solar charger needed, 2nd battery would charge whenever the truck is running...

    Dual Battery

If you aren't running these things with the Vehicle off,you do not need a second battery. You do need to wire these items correctly into your existing system. Make a list of what you need wired up,we'll help you. Or maybe we'll just argue about how it should be done. IDK make your list,we'll see...

    Dual Battery

2nd battery, isolated is super easy and cheap,it does charge but disconnects when the vehicle is not running so you can power whatever you want until the battery goes dead. But your truck will still run on the other battery and charge the isolated battery while you dr8ve home. Bit as Grit said...

    Cracked TH350 case

This was a lot funnier when edelbrock's post said call welding shops and tell them you are a mechanic and have a crack in a bellhousing you need welded up................ After they get done laughing at you for telling them you have a cracked bellhousing. They are probably going to ask you where...

Lost Two Gen 3 LS Engines in my 1986 C10 2WD

When these things get 10 pages deep,I don't read every post but it is suspicious that the low cylinders are the cylinders that are DOD on DOD engines. It's also suspicious that #2 has had zero,90 or 150 lbs depending on which post you read.

    V2500 frame compatibility and advice.

There's a fairly significant difference in frame rail thickness, that's why I didn't suggest a V1500 to the O.P. earlier.Since he already had a problem,I didn't think he'd like the idea of a thinner frame. The guy with the burnt V2500 might be a player. I'll see if I can find frame specs. I've...

Pretty sure I blew a head gasket this morning....

It could be as simple as a bad radiator cap,did you inspect the rubber gasket on the cap? As edgephoto suggested pressure test the system.

    Body filler recommendations

I'm not sure what the attraction to all metal filler is,the binder and glue is still polyester. If I were going to use anything besides an actual metal, and was concerned about using conventional filler I'd be using something with fiberglass strands, the strands would reinforce the filler just...

    Saginaw shifter ID?

Look at this picture,it is a 3 speed saginaw, with a bracket and shift rods to locate the shifter rearwards. 3 speed and 4 speed saginaw shifter wize, shift rod wize are very similiar, just the addition of a separate reverse lever. Anyways I think you could make a bracket and shift rods to move...

Alt putting out 17.4 volts. NOT GOOD right?

Pull the alternator, take it to where ever and get it tested. If it tests bad replace it and tge wire to the battery. I'm suspicious with you only reading 14.2 at the battery running, wondering if it's a resistance problem with that wire, but the current sensing wire is getting the signal the...

    Squishy brakes

Squishy brakes fixed.Well I got a chance to talk to O.P.,it was a pedal ratio problem,he relocated the pushrod and problem solved. So I guess it's a good thing I didn't stop at post 14. Anyway squishy brakes fixed brake pedal ratio problem when adding power brakes to a non power brake...

90 burb, New motor, water pump, overheating only when t stat is installed

Did you reuse your original heads? I did locate the predrilled thermostats they use 3x3/16ths holes. I still think I'd use 2 and sneak up on sizes until I had just enough bypass, too much is going to slow warm up in winter. The fact that no Stat = no overheat and a drilled Stat means no overheat...

    V2500 frame compatibility and advice.

    intro and advice

There's another guy on here, right now needing that frame. And probably more hopefully he'll read this and get ahold of you.If I understand this correctly, you have a burb that needs an eng8ne,a body and interior. Well it's going to cost a lot to get it back together. Unless you do it all...

Lost Two Gen 3 LS Engines in my 1986 C10 2WD

Here's something else to think about. When you tag a valve it's usualy an exhaust valve, because the piston is chasing the exhaust valve shut. The intakes are opening as the piston is moving away from them. I'd takethat engine apart and investigate. At the least I'd see if all the pistons are...
