What have you done to your square lately??

There have been 4,668 days since July 11, 2012. That's when this topic started. So if your kid was born at that time, he/she would be..... 13. And if you bought a new car at that time, then its overdue for that first oil change. And if you had purchased a new bottle of Scotch at that time...

Pretty sure I blew a head gasket this morning....

I think that based on all of the info so far, I would suggest this: Remove the thermostat. Run the engine with the radiator cap off, and top off the fluid level as needed over the course of a few minutes. Replace radiator cap. Drive as normal for a week or so. Do the problems return?

    Engine High Pitch Whining

It might be your blower belt. But its normal for them to make a whining noise.

Pretty sure I blew a head gasket this morning....

Ya, with any luck the coolant shorted out something in the ignition system causing it not to run. Generally speaking though, if an engine stops running or runs poorly due to low oil or low coolant, then that condition is permanent until mechanical repairs are performed. Speaking of which, I...

    Hey, would a cattle guard on a 1980 Chevy K10 bolt onto a 1977 or 1978 K5 Blazer?

    Battery cable recommendations.

Anyone have any idea what battery cables would be needed for a 1977 K5 Blazer? What gauge and length? I want to have thicker cables than normal, so I need to know what OEM would be. Thanks.

    Drive shaft too short

Ya, from the pics - what makes you fell that there is a problem? Everything looks fin to me in the pics. Every time you hit a bump, the driveshaft pushed into the trans and then slide out a bit and then settles somewhere in the middle. If it gets compressed too far, then the rear end will bash...

    New to the Forum

Welcome. If that's going to be your daily, I suggest different wheels and tires. Something like this:

    Custom drive shaft.

So I'm wanting to shorten a driveshaft to fit a 77 K5. The rig is lifted maybe 4 inches. U-Joints on either end, with a slip in the center. This will be for the rear. How do I know the proper length? Do I just shorten the driveshaft so that when its installed, the slip yoke is in the...

High oil pressure after replacing pump

The oil pressure numbers look good. I would hope that new parts would increase the pressure. As for pressure, the only possible downside is that more pressure means more resistance. More resistance means less power to the wheels. But the the power loss would be so small that you would need...

    What are these holes for?

Based on the title, I was half expecting to see a risqué picture of his new girlfriend.

Do I restore my AC or?

There will be plenty of opposition to this: I used to think that recharging A/C would be difficult and require a bunch of skills, and fancy tools and gauges. Nope. I have recharged A/C systems many many times, using R12 and 134A. I have never used the gauges that measure the high and low...

Do I restore my AC or?

A/C is pretty simple. Power goes from dash switch to the low pressure switch, to the high pressure switch to the electromagnet on the pump. If the pressure is too low or tow high, it cuts off the power to the pump. When charging the system, the can of Freon has a gauge on it, that shows what...

Need really good, really cheap shocks that will install themselves and last forever.....

As the title says: Need really good, really cheap shocks that will install themselves and last forever..... 1977 K5 Blazer. These seem like they would work for my lift (4" is a guess). But the price is too high. It a pavement pounder on a budget. What should I get...

    Thornbird or Super Swampers?

Thornbird or Super Swampers? Mainly on pavement. Rarely on freeway. Goal: Cool looking tires. Concerns: Noise, bad road manners, short tread life. So.... Thornbird or Super Swampers?

Removing AC unit - Is there a big hole to fill?

Ya, A/C is really complicated if you have never worked on it before, but its actually really simple. Lot of people will help you with info and advice. I would keep the A/C in place for sure. We can help you get it recharged and everything.

Weird problem sbc spits and sputters till dies then start back up and its fine again

Take the gas cap off and try driving it that way. A vacuum in the fuel tank may be the cause.

    Why did GM do this???

One situation I have seen where hardware / bolts don't make sense has to do with car model versions. Same for the wiring harnesses. Let say you have 1 million cars made. 200,000 LT models, 200,000 LS and 600,000 LTZ models. Hiring a company to make 3 different wiring harnesses is more expensive...
