    K5 Blazer values… possibly buying 86 k5

    That's a deal.

Old man constantly asked to drop his truck.Any stock height C10s left in the world??

I have always felt that lowering a perfectly good truck is a way to tell the world you have an IQ below 80, but without having to actually come out and say it. And don't even get me started on the "Carolina Squat" phenomenon. That's a very sharp truck. Drive it with pride.

Custom fabric inlays on dash side panels- how to attach fabric?

Spray headliner adhesive would probably work well, too. Doesn't totally soak through the cloth.

Alt Replacement Options? A bit confused.

I put that same 10si unit from Summit on my 1984 K20, and the results are great. Very strong charging now, after anemic performance from the stock product. One important caveat is that you have to upgrade the alternator output wire (i.e. to the battery) to 6-gauge or larger. Anything...

    Wanting an Upgrade

I have (no financial interest) only good things to say about the big (27 circuit) Painless harness. Totally straightforward replacement, everything is labeled, all the color codes are right. Since my truck is a "Custom Deluxe" (meaning stripped but with power steering and brakes), that gave me...

Sup y'all? Just enjoying this forum and my old Chevy!

Howdy from NC. You're a fellow Chevrolet abuser. I've had 2.5 tons of demolition waste on my flatbed. Didn't even slow her down.

Edelbrock carbs on a 350 sm blk

I've run a 1406 on an Edelbrock manifold for 17 years on my 350 (1984 K20). Manual choke. Starts easy and runs strong. No complaints.

    Let’s slay this dragon…

This is the Painless Wiring manual for their big-ass 27-circuit harness. It's an excellent reference and explains a lot of stuff: https://painlessperformance.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/90627.pdf The color codes are all consistent with original. I installed one of these in my 1984 K-20...

Howdy from North Carolina. From a fellow old fart who still wrenches.

    Ignition Switch (Tilt Column)

The rack and sector gear assembly is an extremely rinky-dink arrangement. Plastic sector gear engaged with a pot metal rack. Lots of opportunities for binding. What could possibly go wrong? The stupid parts cost about $8, but you have to take the whole steering column apart to replace them.

    Ignition Switch (Tilt Column)

The rack and the sector gear can seem like it's working properly, but can still be in failure mode. Changing ignition switches won't help at all. My truck came home on a wrecker because of it. Your initial reaction is that it must be the ignition switch, and that makes good sense. In a...

    Potential wiring problem

My response to a couple of weird electrical gremlins on my '84 K20 was to weigh the true costs. In other words, did I want to spend a lot of time during the next years trying to track down inevitable 40-year-old electrical problems (that could potentially leave me stranded), or just rip it all...

Daughters ‘87 needs to ride smooth.

Many good comments above. Tire type/size/age/pressure come to mind first. Also, when's the last time you renewed the cab mounting rubber?

PVC and PEX for Compressed Air

I've gotta ask: What is the top-most tool mounted on your shop wall? The thing with the right-angle handle on it?

PVC and PEX for Compressed Air

My entire shop (3000 square feet) is plumbed with conventional 3/4" PEX with brass fittings and copper rings. Many drops. It's always charged at 125psi. Zero trouble in 12 years. (Note that the shop is conditioned space and there's no UV exposure.) Years back I tested PEX air plumbing in a...

Where is this interior leak coming from?

Good to know about the cowl drain holes. I have similar leaks on both sides, despite a new windshield gasket.

    A/C but no heat

The heater core isn't directional, so which hose is on the top and which is on the bottom shouldn't make any difference as long as there's coolant flowing through it. (Which it sounds like there might not be.)

    Getting inside the cowl

This is helpful. I've been trying to figure out where the water on the cab floor came from -- especially with new weatherstripping. It never ends.

    Gauge cluster

I recently changed all the 194 bulbs in my instrument panel to LEDs. Huge difference! You can actually see the gauges now. Very satisfying upgrade.
