    LE9 305 w ESC Performance upgrades '86 k5 Blazer

Actually the ESC 305's had a pretty high compression ratio of around 9.5:1 or something in that neighborhood. They could do that and still run low octane pump gas because the ESC would retard the timing when it sensed spark knock/pinging.

What did you pay for a square

Looks like a good base to build on! I have always liked the 83-84 quad headlight nose best of the newer square bodies.

What have you done to your square lately??

I ran into similar problems when I put an aluminum radiator in our '90 Suburban. I described what I did to make it work in this thread. Not the prettiest, but functional. https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/champion-radiator-difficulties.38180/

    fuel gauge reading

My dad had an '83 K20 that was just like that. My brother @cmichels83 has that pickup now. I am pretty sure it is the resistor behind the fuel gauge.

    Bvllsh!t on craigslist.

I found this interesting. Anyone know if there were ever any 3/4 ton Spirit of America pickups? This one has the Spirit of America door panels. https://www.bismanonline.com/glendive_mt/1976_chevy_c20_anniversary_truckhas_a_454_big_bloc

    Speedo with trip odometer?

I could be wrong, but I believe the trip meter speedometers were the electronic ones in 89-91 Blazers and Suburbans. Our '90 also has the trip, but it doesn't reset either.

What have you done to your square lately??

Got the ‘76 on the road and using it to teach my boys how to drive a manual. They love driving it and it puts a big smile on my dad’s face to see his grandsons enjoying his pickup.

What have you done to your square lately??

Nice idea! That reminds me of the little amber light by the dome light in 30 series John Deere tractors like 4430’s that gave some (emphasis on some) light to supposedly help see the transmission shift levers at night.

What have you done to your square lately??

Hubcaps are interchangeable between 16" and 16.5" wheels.

    Changing gear ratios: opinions/suggestions wanted!!

I had a '78 Winnebago motorhome with a 440 and 727 auto that had a Gear Vendors in it. Was really cool. You could use it to "split shift" so it made it like having a 6 speed instead of a 3 speed. 1st, 1st over, 2nd, 2nd over, 3rd, and 3rd over. Was nice when driving in the hills and having...

Olds 350 diesel to sbc swap

'81 350 diesels are rare birds! That is a cool pickup. I looked at an '81 Chevy in here in ND last year that was for sale. Also needed an injection pump. I passed on it though as a previous owner had mounted a cb radio mount to the celing and bolted it through the roof. Was pretty tempting...

What’s the best polish for the bumpers and mirrors

Someone here had recommended Bon Ami for shining up chrome. I used it on a bumper and it did a great job.

What’s IT Worth? (Post all “what’s it worth threads here)

Man, I'd love to find a 4x4 NP833. Not sure what that is worth, but since it is getting hard to find those, especially with a shifter it is probably going to bring a premium if the guy knows what he has.

    Waffling

It's not too hard to find stock 16" 8 lug steel wheels that you could run your hubcaps on. That would open up a lot more tire options and keep the stock look. Salvage yards should have them, at least they seem to have plenty up here.

    Bought a 73 F100 4x4

I’d stick with the FE blocks and build a 390…way better torque than a 302 or 351W.

How to ID 16" 8 bolt wheels?

Those wheels kind of look like GMT400 wheels. They never had hubcap rings like the older squarebody wheels. They came with plastic center caps. Here is a link that shows what I think you have...

New For Me 1985 Silverado 20 6.2 Diesel

I have a 1990 K2500 with a 6.2 and 4.10's. It originally came with a TH400 auto and you are correct, about 60 mph was its sweet spot. I swapped in a rebuilt 700R4 with all the updates and having overdrive really made it an awesome highway cruiser. I was in the same boat as you and thought the...

    Show your daily driver

I totally agree with Jeremy. We were introduced to Dave Ramsey about 15 years ago. Sold vehicles, took an extra job driving school bus, quit eating out, and just hammered on paying off debt. Took about 5 years to get out of all the debt other than the mortgage and knocked out the mortgage 3...

    Show your daily driver

My mom had a 1982 (I think) 750 CSR back when I was a kid in the mid '80's. I looked basically just like that one! Haven't seen one of those in a long time. My dad had a 1980 750 LTD.

Want to build a good horsepower, good fuel economy engine for a 1978 c20 with stock 350. I don't know much and need help.

Torque is your friend in a pickup. A good RV cam, properly tuned Qjet carb, and a good tune-up (cap, rotor, plugs, wires) would be things to look into. More than likely if your engine is stock, it probably has dished pistons. Flat top pistons and/or heads with smaller combustion chambers can...
