Can you run 31/10.5/15 on 15x6 rims?

I'm pretty sure there were some pickups with heavy duty brakes that had either 15X7 or 15X8 dog dish wheels. I don't recall for sure if they were 7 or 8" wide, but I do know they were wider than the standard rims. Big 10's probably? My dad had a '79 C10 like that. I would think those rims...

    How To Refurbish Your Dashpad

I just completed refurbishing our dash pad using this method recently. One thing to make sure you do is after shaving off the extra foam, make sure that the repaired cracks are depressed a little bit so that after you fill with plastic weld and sand down the plastic weld level with the rest of...

Heavier Duty Coils on 2wd. Any issues?

Looks like you have a good height now. I think you made a good choice on springs.

What is the seat out of? Kind of looks like '07-14 Suburban/Tahoe 2nd row seat?

Advice on freshening up a 350 tbi

I'm curious as to why you want to go away from the TBI fuel injection? Just looking for more power? If you are looking to go with a carb, if you can find a good rebuilt Q-jet, they have small primaries and have nice throttle response on the low end. They are about the best carb for fuel...

Nice truck! My uncle in SD hauled hogs for many years with a '78 K15 GMC similar to your pickup. I think he put well over 200K on it before the body finally rotted out and he retired it. You may want to start a project page for your pickup and post as many pics as you can. We all like to see...

Air blowing out dash vents even when defrost or heat is selected?

Has anyone had a situation where the air is always blowing out the dash vents no matter what position the heater control is on? I can put it on defrost and some air comes out the defrost vents, but most comes out the dash vents. Then if I put it on heat, some air will come out the floor and...

    1990 454 SS Pickup

The '88 and '89 seats were definitely not very good at all. '90-94's were much better. There was an upholstery shop in a town nearby me that specialized in re-building those '88 and '89 seats back in the day.

    1990 454 SS Pickup

I had a '90 1/2 ton back in college. I LOVED the seats in it. 90-94 were some of the best seats ever in my opinion, but I also kind of liked the interiors in general in those years pickups.

New and picked another one up.

Can you get the serial number off the engine block? That X must be a typo. I had a 307 in my 68 C10. My Dad took that engine after I swapped a 327 in and he rebuilt it and put it in his 77 C10 short box. With better heads, cam, and 4 barrel, it runs damn near as strong as my 327.

    2 inch lift on 2wd 3/4 ton

If the springs are original, they probably have settled some in 40 years. I put new springs in my 68 C10 a few years back and it brought it up 2". Just replacing them might give you the lift you want.

31X10.50 15's will look good on those rallys. :headbang:

What have you done to your square lately??

Tried changing the caps, but the cross is too wide, so I ordered a combo u joint. Just came in today, so hopefully tomorrow I will have time to try that out. Have to finish packing front wheel bearings and install the new brake pads too. I noticed one of the transmission cooler lines is...

    Longbed Inspiration needed

I'm with you. I like seeing these pickups at their stock height for 2wd's and a little lift on the 4x4's. I think someone else mentioned 31" tires earlier. I agree with that. Keep the cool rally wheels with 31" tires to fill the wheel wells up a bit more. Looks tougher IMHO compared to...

What have you done to your square lately??

Got a new front driveshaft for our 90 V1500 and the new driveshaft came with a larger front u-joint than the old one. The end caps are 1 1/8" in diameter and the old one had 1 1/16" diameter end caps. The guy at the Auto Value Parts store said this was the only driveshaft listed for a 90...

    700r4 blown. Nv3500/4500 swap

Still wondering if anyone would know if the clutch pedals out of a 77 would work in my 90 burb on a 4500 swap using a mechanical clutch bellhousing from AA? Also wondering about cruise control since the 77 doesn’t have cruise? I thought I heard somewhere that there is a switch on the clutch...

    700r4 blown. Nv3500/4500 swap

We are considering a NV4500 swap into our 90 V1500. I have a line on a good 4500 out of a 94 4X4 Chevy pickup. I also have a parts pickup '77 K20 with a 465 transmission in it. I'm wondering if the clutch pedals would work out of that pickup for the swap? I have seen that AA sells a NV4500...

    EGR Valve and dual exhaust

Once I read that it could be a vacuum leak, it came to mind that the air only blows out the dash vents and wouldn’t switch to the floor or defrost. I did some checking under the hood and found a vacuum hose that was disconnected from a ‘T’ above the distributor. I hooked that back up and now the...

    EGR Valve and dual exhaust

The service engine soon light on our 1990 Suburban has been coming on lately so I checked the code and it comes up code 32. I believe that is related to the EGR valve. The previous owner removed the cat, but left the rest of the exhaust stock. The exhaust is shot, so I am planning to have...

Yeah, I actually kind of like the rallys too. I do think some 31's would look better than the 235's that are on it now.

Hello, My son and I recently purchased a 1990 V1500 Suburban as a project vehicle that will be his when he gets his license. We are looking forward to learning more about square bodies through all the great info on this forum. Here's a pic of it on the rack the other day. Needs some TLC, but...
