"Overheating" --> Now Fuel Delivery Issue --> Dirty Tank?

Agree on all above. To get into troubleshooting mode, you are likely looking at an issue on Driver tank only, possibly obstructed pickup, possibly cracked hose sucking air, possibly a combination, and possibly something different. Your "known good" point is probably the line leaving the...

What have you done to your square lately??

Yep, that's the setup. I'll hop its just that, then, and not a second transfer case shot. Or worse, a transmission issue of it's own. Would it leak a lot of trans fluid even when it isn't running? The transmission was in park, and had been the entire time (transfer in neutral, of course). I...

"Overheating" --> Now Fuel Delivery Issue --> Dirty Tank?

I forgot about this, a tank vent issue could very easily be the culprit. Do like he said, leave the cap loose/removed and see if it fixes it. Or, drive until it fails, pull the cap, and see if it starts back immediately. This happened to a buddy with a Mustang, every day at the same spot in his...

What have you done to your square lately??

I think I broke mine, does that count? Took it on vacation, flat towing behind the RV. The first leg, the transfer case wasn't fully in neutral, I think, and the shifter basically burned up. Miraculously found a replacement transfer case, but it started leaking the next day, and I decided my...

Should I Drive My Truck To OBX For Our Annual Beach Vacation

I've used the fan type (flat "blade" of water going side to side in 5-10 seconds) and the spot type/rotating random/kids running through and jumping over type. Mainly something that sprays up more than out. The Fan style worked great for getting mud off too, I placed it on top of each tire and...

    Wiring to battery or alternator?

As long as the grounds are good size, the locations seem spot on.

    Wiring to battery or alternator?

Others may have opinions, but I'd say run it to the battery. Make sure you have good wiring from the alternator as well, and make sure you are grounded everywhere. Grounds get overlooked, but can make or break a trouble free electrical system.

Should I Drive My Truck To OBX For Our Annual Beach Vacation

x14 from me, you should do it. If you really want to protect it, get a water hose and sprinkler at home base for the trip, and when you return for the day, park on top of it and turn on the sprinkler. Move it after a bit to make sure you get all of it, or drive very slowly over the sprinkler for...

Ethanol varnish residue: Carb vs EFI

We run Sta-Bil in all of our small engine stuff with mid grade/89 E10 from a major supplier like Shell, and it usually keeps the hassle to a minimum. I also run sea foam at least once a year through all of it, which helps a ton as well. Come to think of it, it's probably that time of year again...

    ‘91 Suburban A/C Cooling Help

How much oil is in the system? Have you drained everything and started from scratch? Too much oil can blow out a compressor, and too little can burn it up. Have you replaced the filter/drier every time you change out a component? The condenser is only seeing 125° in? That's really low pressure...

Advice and Parts recommendations for some 6.2 cam/valvetrain work?

Yes, I have HP Tuners. I've never gotten close to that MPG with ours, even stock it was around 14 on the highway most of the time, and after the cam, she averages 11-12 (mostly city, down about 1.5-2 mpg from stock). We don't take it on the highway much, and to be fair, highway around here...

Advice and Parts recommendations for some 6.2 cam/valvetrain work?

Glad it was relatively simple, loose bolts are much better than a handful of other culprits... When you get to a moderately happy place on the tune, would you be willing to shoot me a copy to compare to mine?

Advice and Parts recommendations for some 6.2 cam/valvetrain work?

Been there, done that, where the simple fix nearly passes you off more than makes you feel better... here's hoping it just slipped your mind and wasn't torqued with no further harm... I chased an intermittent stall under load on my Monte Carlo 5.3 swap years ago. Took me weeks of hair pulling...

    383 FI Swap from 350

I would venture a guess that you have the TBI pumps operational in the tank and the P.O. added the inline pump on the frame rail to get to the high pressure required for the Edelbrock. You could use the same setup for the Holley, but the more right thing to do is to skip the inline and swap in...

    383 FI Swap from 350

Just curious, what is the reason for moving away from the Edelbrock injection to the Holley? In general, in tank pump is best, see what you have, and a pump swap to get what you need should be fairly easy if you have TBI tanks and hangers (and the rail mounted should be irrelevant and unnecessary).

Advice and Parts recommendations for some 6.2 cam/valvetrain work?

Ok, I'm showing my ignorance. If the engine is basically good (oil pressure was fine, assuming the cam lobe is wiped out), but had some trash through it, is it as simple as swapping bearings 1 for 1 and bolting back together, no machine shop or precision measuring required? I've torn into top...

Advice and Parts recommendations for some 6.2 cam/valvetrain work?

Good point, I didn't even think about the non-ferrous aspect. That'll be my first step when I start digging in. At this point, I'm hoping it is just the cam/lifter, and that no trash worked through the system to affect anything else. In the very short time of running after it started making...

Advice and Parts recommendations for some 6.2 cam/valvetrain work?

Sorry to say, no I don't. Have barely looked at it in the last few weeks, getting ready for a 2 week RV trip in the motorhome. When we get back in June, I'll start digging in to it. Mentally, I'm still going back to a lifter rotating from the plastic tray breaking, which might have happened when...

Adding Air Conditioning in the South

Most folks don't realize it, but AC systems in cars are actually pretty large capacity. It seems like a system should be kinda like a window unit, after all, a truck cab isn't that big. But a typical modern AC system is probably higher capacity than your house AC. Hard to nail it down, but...

    Newbie from France

Welcome! How heavy are the bikes? Is it an option to remove a leaf or two to drop the rear a little bit? If you do need full load capacity, airbag helper springs could be a way to get a little lower when you want it, and gain full load capacity back when you need it. Either way, beautiful truck...

    04 Suburban oil pan, whew

Do the screen if you get bored, but I'll second that 20 psi hot idle ain't bad. I had an '01 Suburban with 3xxk miles that did similar. I think I replaced the oring and de-sludged the pan around 250k, and a lifter would tick after about 3000 miles on an oil change. I just used it as a reminder...

Factory 3 point seat belt harness.

Is this what you need? I've talked with them over the phone, seems like good products but you pay for them. I'm not sure how original they are on the retractor end, the rest of it looks reasonably stock...

Moved to FB 1987 C20 parts truck. Near Fort Worth

I'm interested in some parts, i.e. wiring harness for the front end, but can't take the whole thing (my wife would kill me, and might go for you next since you helped lol). I'll PM you for an address and see if I can get out there.

    Under the Sheets. Supra MK3

I had a 91 Cressida with the 7M-GE. Great car, wish I wouldn't have sold it. 220k miles and 30 years old and the only thing that didn't work was the lab belt tab that kept it in place when unbuckled... I let it overheat and blew the head gasket, then debated doing a GTE conversion, or an LS...

    Ls swap

There's situations where that is possible, I couldn't say for sure one way or the other on this in particular. But that transmission needs to be rebuilt, and swapping a 4wd output shaft shouldn't be too hard while it is torn apart.
