PAG is a a corrosive and will take out your evaporator. Only use an Ester oil in a retro-fit system. -
AC Troubleshooting 1976 GMC C15
Low pressure is on the high side of normal range. 50psi should mean your outlet temperature should be about 50 degrees. Anywhere between 40 and 50 degrees is within normal range. In my opinion if you could get more air going across the condenser the performance would improve. -

Radiator condenser combo.
After a couple of fitment issues with aftermarket radiators I had my original OE high efficiency radiator re-cored. Not inexpensive but looking back, I have no regrets- Finkaire

Doesn’t sound like the switch is the culprit, go back to the original switch. Any other lights on the dash, are the headlights bright. Could be the starter, could be a neutral safety switch, Im sure there is a diagnostic list. AAA to a reputable mechanic close by?- Finkaire

Factory A/C Conversion for '86
Using the LS compressor and brackets only makes sence. If you are going to use the OE accumulator/evaporator system you will need to use the OE condenser for the orifice tube. Anytime that you use OE parts from that era and plan on using 134a refrigerant you must use an ester oil, Pag oil is a... -
Looking for hood stripes
The dealer used to sell kits to body shops to replace OE stripes. Otherwise there are many different options as far as vinyl. Hand stripping is the best IMHO, a good body shop would typically know of a good one- Finkaire

AC Compressor Change - Accumulator/Orifice Tube Criticality
Either way, assuming you are going to charge system with 134a, drain the compressor and refill with an Ester oil to prevent corrosion of the evaporator. You can rotate a compressor on the bench but you cannot check for leaks, everything on the system is rated at 500psi -
What Classic Insurance to get?
Do some research, Grundy only covered going to an event or a Sunday ride. Not covered doing errands including going to the drive-thru. Terrible ratings, not sure about Hagerty- Finkaire

I finally gave up.
I had my El Camino dash recovered before they made re-pops. It has seams but its hand fit, padded and looks better than the original. On the Stepside I just covered it with a dash mat and called it good! -

HID or LED headlights whats good for street driving.
LED’s. Had a couple problems with the company but overall pleased. Plug and play, Black Friday sale less 15%. Not cheap but it is nice to be able to see!- Finkaire
