    What is this hole for?

I took many pics during disassembly but I failed to take one of this area. See the pic and does anybody know what this hole is for? I was going to fill it in but I googled up this part and they all have this hole. This panel goes under the steering column. Thanks.

Parking brake cable mount for exhaust that exits to side in front of rear wheel? Pics?

Sorry I don't have an answer but are these cables factory? The reason I ask is my 78 that I'm building has cables and they are going to hit the trans pan and cross member and what you have looks much better.

Early or late window regulator for swap??

Also I believe you must use their switches. I would like some input on whether the 77-81 motors work better than the 82-87 motors. I'm sure the connectors on the motors and switches are different and I have to buy the connectors plus the switches. I want to make sure it all plugs together.

Early or late window regulator for swap??

Thanks for the reply. I did see those, they are pricey but prob worth it to not have to mess with the factory stock stuff.

Early or late window regulator for swap??

I'm putting electric windows and locks in my 78. The door shells are empty so I can use either the 77-81 or 82-87 window regulators and motors. From a price standpoint the 82-87 is cheaper since LMC has the motors for 39.95 ea vs the 77-81 motors for 124.95 ea. I "assume" the later style...

It was a 75, bought in late 74. And yes, I did, but not anymore.

    Leaf Spring Slider/Liners

Hello, on the rear of my 78 C10 there's some thin plastic shims hanging out of the sides of the leaf springs. After some research I see they are liners and I do see the material for sale to cut and put in. But I don't see any replacement kits for sale. I don't have the leafs apart yet but I...

    Fixing large door/cab gap.

I'd like to find OEM now for 90.00, ha. I saw one somewhere on the internet this year for 600.00. I paid 400 for an NOS pass side fender, I just had to have it.

    Fixing large door/cab gap.

Well, I got the gap a lot closer after I took those pics so it's going to be fine. My gaps in the striker area on both doors measure about .180 and the hinges are as far forward as they can go without grinding the holes out on the hinges but I'm leaving them alone since it looks good like that...

    Fixing large door/cab gap.

Yes, I'm glad he kept it, I learned to drive in it and we have a lot of memories in it. I forgot to mention that in around 1990 I rebuilt the original turbo 350 that was never touched before me. It was missing the brake band. I remember the truck would never "brake" while off the gas and...

    Fixing large door/cab gap.

Yes, it sure seems like it. My dad bought this 78 new so I've known it since I was 11. Nobody has ever worked on it but us. When I removed the back glass and gasket I noticed a dent inside the cab that the seal partially covered up that looks like they missed one of the spot welds and made...

    Fixing large door/cab gap.

Funny, I went to Walmart yesterday and saw one around 1985 and the gaps were very nice, made me jealous, ha. It looked all original.

    Fixing large door/cab gap.

Thanks to both. I'll do the doors. I actually adjusted some more and got the gap closer but I'll still need to use some rod to get it the way I always wanted it to be. Much fun.

    Fixing large door/cab gap.

I'm fitting my doors on to set the hinge position on the cab prior to removing the doors and finishing the final body work. This truck, like most all, has a fairly large gap at the top and at the A pillar, almost half an inch. This truck was like that since new and I've hated it all the way...

Protecting bare rusted metal prior to paint job

Hard to tell by the pic but it looks like bubbles on the hood that is probably more rust spots coming soon. For the one in question I would sand that spot down to shiny metal and spray some dupli color or whatever brand spray paint you can find that matches as close as possible just to seal it...

    Door striker question

Thanks. I just rebuilt the hinges with new pins and oversize bushings and I'm adjusting the doors. The bare cab is on a stand so I can get to the bolts easy. The doors are closing good now with no slack and that's with no bushings on the strikers. I guess they fell off over the years but I...

    Door striker question

Does anybody know if the factory door strikers on a 78 came with no bushings or do all have bushings from the factory. I've known this truck since new and nobody has worked on it but me and the strikers have no bushings. I'm asking because maybe they wore out and fell off? (I don't remember)...

    Burning hei coils

I accidentally left this ground strap off once on a Firebird years ago and got the same coil burning problem, didn't take long. I'll try to attach pics. One end of this ground strap goes down and becomes one of the three tabs that the wire connector plugs into. As I remember this strap...

Which posi unit do you like?

Thanks much for the info. That's prob the one I'll go with. Several others like it as well. I was looking at the Jegs clutch unit with the yellow springs but the Yukon is cheaper and if it's holding up for you guys it will work fine for me.

Which posi unit do you like?

I'm restoring a 78 C10, it will never be raced but I want to go back with a posi. It has the stock 12 bolt with I believe 3:07 ratio. There's so many different units out there I'm just curious as to what some of you are running and how smooth they operate. I'm looking at Eaton Truetrac, Jegs...
