Anyone live in Portland, OR have a shop they like? Need to pass emissions…

We pass in our truck usually. Many changes have been made since it last went through. It does need to go in for testing again as the tags are well past due. They have not popped the hood to look under, but they do have a little mirror that they look under it with. That checks to see if you have...

Replaced stock radio with an amplifier and now turning on headlights turns it off

I like pictures. Do you have a photo of the equipment that you installed? Even a pic of the wiring diagram it came with can help... I am in the area as well. Radios are pretty simple to get wired up.

    What’s it worth? Asking for a friend. 1971 C10.

It is worth twelve bucks the way it sits. I have cash in hand and can be there with a trailer in 5 hours. :happy107::happy107::happy107::happy107::happy107::happy107::happy107::happy107::happy107::happy107::happy107:

    Speaker pods/General stereo questions

That or simply bolting down to the vehicle or a mount that is attached to the vehicle. It just keeps it from beating itself up with the sub.

    Speaker pods/General stereo questions

I was all with you up until you said to mount the amp to the sub box. That is how amps eventually die. It has the ability to break the small connections on the insides of the amp loose and suddenly you let the smoke out. Ideally you want to mount the amp to the vehicle in a way it will not be...

    Speaker pods/General stereo questions

When you tune the system, the 6x9's and the subs should not be playing the same frequency's. The subs will be playing the deep stuff usually from 80Hz and down. While the 6x9's will be playing the mid bass to fill out the sound of the music.

What are your favorite/ best looking valve covers for SBC?

It was of that vintage, but not the Draguar.

What are your favorite/ best looking valve covers for SBC?

For some reason, I did not take a photo of the Jag. I had always wanted one of those as well, just never found a suitable candidate.

What are your favorite/ best looking valve covers for SBC?

I always wanted a set of these when they came out. Then I found them in the junkyard attached to a small block equipped Jaguar. Now I have a set that just needs a bit of a cleaning...

400 SBC Build - Tight Budget

Did the extra cost come from all the extra metal they had to put into those skyscraper valve covers? I don't think that I have ever seen a set of them so tall.... Looks good and should be a bitchin' engine for you.

    Intake Manifold Install

I simply waited for the bulb to burn itself out. No more pesky ABS light for me on the '95 Sub....

    Just an intro

Welcome for Oregon. We used some stock iron manifolds from a 1997 454 we pulled out of the junkyard. One of the original stock ones cracked and we had them on hand. They work well, but we replaced ours with headers and are much happier.

    79 c10 engine upgrade help.

    - headers and exhaust - 4 barrel carburetor - intake manifold I would say that your list looks like a great starting point once the noise is dealt with. For headers, use a set for a 1968-72 Nova. They do not hang down below the frame like the truck ones do. I have a set on my big block and...

    1970 & 1971 Kawasaki 100cc G4TR's

One of the reasons we are starting here as well. One of the other reasons is he doesn't want to drop $2-3k on a new to him hobby right now. Gotta set the hook and then step up to bigger and better. I just told him to watch On Any Sunday for more inspiration.

    1970 & 1971 Kawasaki 100cc G4TR's

10 speeds. Yup, you read that right, these have a high and low range in the gearbox or sumpin. Literature for the bikes to help us get them back into running shape. Very nice key for one of them. I can still find these online, the other side has the key code stamped into it. I just need to...

    1970 & 1971 Kawasaki 100cc G4TR's

In my history of not finishing projects, I have continued doing just that.... Enter a pair of vintage Kawasaki 2 stroke dirt bikes. Max has been looking dirt bikes off and on for the last few weeks as a couple of his buddies have them. To get him started I suggested a vintage bike that is cheap...

    Amazon TIG welders?

For a machine that is that inexpensive, I would purchase the protection plan. That way you can at least get a fresh one when something goes sideways on it.

    Tachometer?

I do still have it. Though my son has claimed it for his project truck. Thanks for the interest though Chris! Have a swell day.

    1983 454 vs 5.3 LS for towing

That Performer intake is the same one that we have on our truck. It really woke the package up as far as more power everywhere. I would definitely put a set of headers on it to allow it to breathe easier. My engine came nearly stock with just the little cam in it from when it was rebuilt. We...

    1983 454 vs 5.3 LS for towing

This will be the route that I take with my truck. I will be eventually replacing the SM465 with a 4L80 I have in the stock pile of parts. That transmission with the big block should be about unstoppable. I do have the matching 454 from the 1997 truck that the trans came from that will also be...
