    Cracked frame/shock mounts help

Excellent thread-info. My frame is ok, but I ordered the reinforcement kit from ORD in a preventative mode. Would you use a larger piece of steel (like a glorified fender washer) on the backside to reinforce/support the shock mounting hole? I did this when I made mounting brackets for the rear...

    Cheap defective aftermarket parts….lol

My neighbor about 20 yrs ago had a 77 Vette that winked (one of the popup headlamps wouldnt work). He narrowed it down to a solenoid of some sort - went to the dealer for a new one. Didn't work so he took it back. 3 trips and 3 bad parts later, the parts guy hands him a case of them and says...

    'Nuther Air Compressor Question

Anyone know a GOOD pressure switch brand? I have heard the 80 gal cutoff at 150psi - think my 30gal cuts out at 130psi.

    'Nuther Air Compressor Question

Thanks @Ricko1966 - DL'd those pics for future use. A friend of mine has a 110 gallon spare air tank in his garage (unused). If I ever get a place with a shop I'm going to try and pry him out of it. lol @Grit dog - this was solid core wire - no reason why it wouldn't work, unless the run was...

    'Nuther Air Compressor Question

When I tried if off the generator with a 40ft cord it ran fine. Would be easier and much more quiet to run it off the house though. And the 'janky' setup includes a transfer switch on the box inside. Transfer switch on = feed from the gen. Switch off = 220 circuit (initially ran for central AC...

    'Nuther Air Compressor Question

Ok, without going into details as to how this occurred....here it is: I was going to run my compressor off my generator (still might but for a number of reasons wont if I dont have to) for 220 that my garage doesn't have. There is a generator receptacle on the side of the house that I use for...

    Computer Control Quadrajet rebuild

FWIW, my 85 was from Eugene OR - everything on it was Cali-spec. Glad to know all the differences.....I think.

    Computer Control Quadrajet rebuild

Mine is also an 85 and had that same QJ. I sent it to Mountain Man in AR and they did a stellar job rebuilding it. Problem was, the idiot PO cut all the wires under the hood so I couldn't use it anyways (without calling NASA) - so I went FI and the 'new' QJ remains in the box.

    Vortec heads

I used Edelbrock's E-Tec heads. Aluminum and much beefier than a vortec, but supposedly in the same design-genre. Unless you find something used and not thrashed, wont be cheap.

    Wiper trouble

Sounds like you have a collection of grounding and wiring issues. The ground on the wiper motor is probably the easiest place to start.

    Rare Hood Ornaments, Wow! $$$$

Not sure who's more nuts....guy selling them for that much or whoever would pay it. Those are easy to replicate......even with anything you want.

    Radiator Mount Bushings - Rubber

What I kind of figured out was....the originals' bottom (top half) were bare metal - these are rubber.....coated. I used an elongated burr-ball and removed about half the rubber coating on the base (that was originally bare metal) and although snug, they now fit like the originals. Everything...

    Radiator Mount Bushings - Rubber

I have seen the older (original) mounts - the top half was metal and the bottom half slipped over it (on the underside of the bracket). These are all rubber and simply do not fit. I put a pair in a 20T press and they wouldn't go. Want nothing to do with poly - might just use my originals. They...

    Radiator Mount Bushings - Rubber

Got a new set of rubber body and radiator support bushings. LMC shows them to be installed like this - Other sites show them like this - Pretty certain the LMC diagram is correct, even though the washer doesn't fit inside that top bushing. Ok, its been about 5 yrs since I took everything...

    Inner Door Panel Info

Those look like interior codes to me (could be wrong...its happened before). I think with the year and maybe this - https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/rpo-master-list.33819/ - you could probably figure out most of the codes for your truck. Welcome to our e-lodge.

    Holley Retrobright 4x6 sealed beams

This must be a Euro market only thing but am glad to hear someone is still making this style and size. Hella ecodes (what I have) dropped theirs.....and I thought $100ea was bad. I had Xpel protective lenses made for them. Cibies were always my favorites - I think Valeo owns them now but I...

    Radiator Support

Thanks dude - was thinking 'this could be the dumbest question posted to date' when I asked. My original was eaten up where a battery had leaked (it got my inner fender on that side as well) - got this in a JY off of an 86 Blazer or Burb - cant remember which. Had it blasted and powder coated -...

    Radiator Support

Getting ready to mount my radiator support and noticed the center bar bent in a bit. Not creased and doesn't look peripherally damaged in any way - were these supposed to be like this or straight? If straight, I dont think its a difficult repair either. THX
