    Towing with an old truck

@bucket no, the 2500HD springs are NOT weak. I have done things with the 3 different 2500HDs that would have sent the designing engineers into cardiac arrest. I am old enough to remember that these trucks and the equivalent Fords and Dodges of the '70s and '80s moved whatever needed moving...

What have you done to your square lately??

I don't think this one matters. If the Scotch were still in a barrel, the extra years would make a difference. Wine continues to mature in the bottle but whisky (Scotch doesn't have the "e" like other whiskey) is pretty much going to stay the same once it is bottled. As far as I know anyway...

    1988 Camaro

That is a 1988 and is either throttle body or TPI. All Camaro engines were fuel injected in '88. In '85 there were fuel injected Z28s but the lower level Camaro 305s were carbureted.

    1987 Chevy V10 steering wander

And if the alignment tech is a good one he may just find some other problem(s). Mine was pretty bad until I replaced the stabilizer. Yes, I saw you already did that. I had also but using a "stock" replacement stabilizer did nothing. A heavy duty, Skyjacker stabilizer set up for larger tires...

What have you done to your square lately??

We like to call this Percussive Calibration. Operators in the plant love to use it on level switches, pressure switches and sometimes on transmitters. I&E Techs hate this.

    Toe adjustment 1987 V10

All of that is good advice but if it is toed out so badly he can clearly see it and he is out of adjustment, something is WRONG. Getting a perfect measurement won't help him if he cannot adjust any further. I confess I didn't measure mine. When I replaced the tie rod ends I adjusted it by...

    Toe adjustment 1987 V10

My tie rods are both screwed in pretty far but there is some thread left on both. Unless you have some incorrectly matched components I don't see how you could run out of adjustment. Just crawled under the nose of it to check, I have about 3/4 inch of thread on the driver's side and about 1/2...

Those boards were milled on a circle saw mill. Extremely cool. And I Love that Truck.

What have you done to your square lately??

@legopnuematic is 100% correct here. You need to do both sides. When you seal one side only you will have a moisture imbalance and the boards will curl. This will happen inside a house, it will happen outside in a truck bed. Our members who live in more arid climates may have a different...

What have you done to your square lately??

Shou Sugi Ban/Yakisugi? I just bought a torch large enough to do this, about to try it on the lumber coming off my sawmill. Are you going to add any type of oil or sealer? And did you burn it on the other side and ends also? It looks really good by the way.

What have you done to your square lately??

Sorry, @JamesSam forgot to answer that part. I don't know about getting him on the phone. He and I communicated by email. He sure knows a lot and he helped me out big time...but he seems like he doesn't enjoy communication. I may be wrong on that but that was my impression. Again, my...

What have you done to your square lately??

I have...thoughts. 1. If it started after the shop fixed your biggest problem (it didn't run!) then it is related to either the fix or some adjustment they made. That adjustment was either accidental or intentional. 2. You were just singing the praises for this shop (as well you should) so if I...

    87 tbi zero power

I would start at the battery and the battery terminals. That is the easiest spot to reach anyway. You said the battery is good...but how do you know? Put a meter on it and see if the voltage reading drops when someone else tries to start the truck.

    is this a Frankentruck?

Uhhh, no. No block off plate. There simply is no opening in the TBI block. Someone please chime in that knows more than I do here, there may have been more than one version. But this pic I just crawled under The Truck to get, this is looking straight up at the underside of where the...

    is this a Frankentruck?

I would have thought that any 350 "from the '90s" would not have the hole in the block to accommodate a mechanical fuel pump, those motors should have been either TBI or TPI, not carbureted.

    Which dually - 8.1 vs pre-DEF 6.6?

I had a 2007 "Classic" with the LBZ Duramax and it was wonderful. The new body style '07s had the first of the DPFs and all the problems that went with them. I never had any codes. My only complaint, ever was that the fuel mileage was not as good as what some folks were saying. I could get...

What have you done to your square lately??

I have had surprisingly good results shopping for bolts/screws/fasteners from Lowe's. There is an Automotive section in the bolting and I have been able to replace several fasteners over the last few years that looked just like what I removed and lost from my GMC(s).

What have you done to your square lately??

If there is, I haven't found it yet! There are aftermarket, adjustable fuel pressure regulators that require an external gauge getting plumbed in. I had no need to do this to mine as it is completely stock except for the exhaust and I figured the stock regulator spring would be fine. This is...

What have you done to your square lately??

It cannot be that expensive to take your truck to a local muffler shop and have them weld up your exhaust. When I got my truck the PO had cobbled together an awful mess of piping. I brought it to a local guy and when he finally understood that I wanted the exhaust to look like he had done it...
