Oil Pressure Drops After High RPM
Also for comparison, I run Schaeffer 10-30 high zinc oil. Mark IV 496. Melling high flow oil pump. Hot idle pressure is 35lbs. Hot at 2000 rpm is 65 lbs. Normally I run 10-40 but my pressure is plenty high.- Shorty81

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue
My 496 is a 454 bored over .060 with a Skip White 496 rotating assy. 781 iron heads, headers. I added a extension to place the direct drive 7 blade fan deep into the shroud. 86 K20. 496bb, sm465, 208, 31" tires 3:73, 11 mpg. I don't drive over 55. If you want high speed/good mpg buy modern vehicle. Don't try to make something of these trucks something they are not.- Shorty81
