    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

Came up to the shop Sunday afternoon to work on this some more. Decided to knock out the bodylift since it's pretty simple and I only had a few hours. First, I measured where I was starting out, height-wise. 38" up front, 37 5/8" in the back (don't jump on me for Carolina squat, the front will...

    Front spring question

I'm the same way, my truck sits ~3/8"-1/2" lower on the pass side front, just cuz I didn't cut the springs the same and have never fixed it lol. But to answer your question, the LCA has a pocket for the coil spring's tail to sit in. The top bucket on the frame has a D shape with a flange that...

What have you done to your square lately??

Hit a buzzard doing 45-50mph Sunday on my way up to the shop, shattered the hell out of the windshield. Thankfully it hit dead center and didn't get the grille/hood or roof/cab and thankfully the GF wasn't with me cuz all the glass landed in the pass seat.

1977-78 door trim accent piece - Western Scroll

Man, I don't even have a 'burb but I would've grabbed those panels for sure just cuz they're unobtainium in any color, let alone Mystic

    Is this a square body?

Yep, '47-55 was Advanced Design, '55-59 was Task Force, '60-66 was just C/K (1st gen), '67-72 was Action Line, '73-87 was Rounded Line, then they started the GMT designations after that.

    Adhesive Rear Cab Molding?

Nope, they're just like original. So you either have to already have the studs on the truck or be willing to add the studs and drill holes on the sides for the corner pieces.

Thanks! It's been frustrating and fun all at the same time. I'm ready for it to be back on the road for sure

    Towing with an old truck

I love seeing your pictures of all the towing though, so many guys don't think you can even tow a jetski with one of these, especially when they're lowered. I've had 1500+lbs in the bed of mine several times and it did just fine. I'd throw a light car trailer and a car behind mine, even now with...

Why can’t I post wheels for sale?

As said, your post count is too low. That's a long time forum tradition, it's to keep people from just joining purely to sell stuff. We want you to come in a participate and stick around

    Adhesive Rear Cab Molding?

The factory ones are welded into the cab, kinda like a spot weld or a stud welder

    Towing with an old truck

This one always gets me when you post it lol. Did it tow that trailer (with the Chevelle in it I assume?) well? I don't know that I would've tried that with my truck (certainly not now with the 6-speed Tremec), even with the helper bags I've got

    1988 Camaro

My '87 had an electric fuel pump on it. I just remember it being blue and mounted on the frame rail just below the tank in the back. I couldn't tell ya if it was a TSB/GM thing or an aftermarket now though

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

So I got both sides mostly assembled at lunch. I still need to do the pitman/idler arms, center link and inner/outer tie rods. But I think I'm gonna wait to do those until I put the front diff back in since the center link has to come down. My steering was pretty good, so I'm not concerned about...

What have you done to your square lately??

Also true. It's definitely less of a worry in older transmissions, 4L60/4L80 and newer are much more sensitive to temperature

What have you done to your square lately??

True, but it could also fail and you wouldn't really know if it was because it had been hot forever and a day or something else

What have you done to your square lately??

Yeah, it's not "not" normal, but definitely higher than I'd wanna see. Even in a non-lockup trans. It'll live longer if you put a cooler on it

What have you done to your square lately??

Damn. You need a cooler on that thing

    Should i or shouldnt i?!!

If you treat it as a super low-buck, Roadkill type of build, absolutely! The rear bumper missing kinda sucks but I'm sure they can be found, the bumper fillers are impossible to find as far as I'm aware though. The rust from the vinyl top makes me cringe though

    1988 Camaro

Yep, I used to see them all the time. There was one other 3rd gen at my HS and that guy had the iron duke Berlinetta.

    LED Grille Lights

Sorry, forgot to respond back to this last week. Same thing with the side markers, just some random 194 LEDs off Amazon. Couldn't tell ya if they're polar or not, I had them laying around from other projects and just tried them, they happened to work. Running light/marker is dim and then they...

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

I've always cleaned and painted the frame on all my trucks, usually takes a weekend or two and I use a combo of wire brushes in a drill and hand brushes to clean every inch I can, then wipe down with laquer thinner or brake clean, tape up anything I don't want paint on, then prime and paint. I...

So last night I decided I wanted to do something other than work on the engine, so I started stripping the front end to clean/paint/install the leveling keys and new UCAs/LCAs/shocks This truck is so nasty underneath. Thankfully zero rust, just dirt everywhere I did the pass side first and...

    1988 Camaro

Looks like a nice one!! I'd love to have another, my 2nd car that I drove to HS was a blue '87 IROC with the 305/700R4. @AuroraGirl '87 was the last year for the carb, a computer quadrajet. '88-up was TBI. Then TPI was also offered '85-92 for the Z28s on both the 305 and 350. Could only get...

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

So then today at lunch, I double and triple checked my wiring at lunch and unplugged the coil harnesses. Hooked up the battery, listened for arcing and watched/smelled for smoke, saw nothing so I spun the motor over without the plugs in it to pump out any left over liquid WD40. It spun smooth...

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

Last night, I worked on all the little peripheral details. Installed the new knock sensor grommets in the valley plate and installed that with a fresh gasket Installed and torqued the knock sensors, installed the harness (with gasket maker on the rubbers) and made the dams around them with...
