    The previous owner of my k5 said the owner before him owned a transmission shop so I’m sure my transmission has been replaced or rebuilt at least once. Everything is covered in nearly 40 years of oil and dirt, I haven’t been able to see a reman sticker.

    That is exactly where the oil pressure switch was in my k5. Yours is probably mounted in a 45 degree fitting. My switch was straight in with no angle fitting which is required when switching from pressure switch to pressure gauge.

    What part number temp sensor are you using? What does your temperature gauge look like? The standard cold and hot or does it actually have numbers 100 for cold and 250 for hot?

    I’ll have to double check but that vacuum switch next to the brake booster has had no vacuum to it for a long time. Vacuum line from manifold to that switch has long rotted away. So with that switch getting no vacuum my torque converter lockup was always engaged?

    Spark plug recommendations? I’ve had good experiences with NGK G power (small platinum tip) and NGK V power (larger non platinum tip) They offer a two heat ranges: UR4 colder plug UR5 hotter plug I was thinking the hotter plug due to high mileage. Coolant temp runs 180 - 200.
