    headlight/seat belt buzzer

The easiest way to disable the key warning is to unscrew the door jamb switch, and disconnect and tape off whatever wire isn’t white. If I remember correctly, the wire for the key is tan. Problem solved.

For some reason, I can’t post pics!! What’s up with that?

    I’m buying a lottery ticket!!

Over the winter, my son and I have been fixing/updating some severely neglected things on his 92 Yukon. Things like replacing the crumbling dash, the falling headliner, rebuilding the suspension, installing a lift kit, installing heated back glass/mirrors, power seat, etc. One of the big items...

    headlight/seat belt buzzer

I’m curious, why do people despise them? I get it, the key in the ignition chime is annoying, but the headlight warning would be worth the inconvenience. On a related subject, it’s easy enough to disable the key warning, while leaving the other chimes functional.

    Pumping Air to a Catalyst

GM warmed the converters in the most reliable way at the time. Meaning they calibrated a cold start with increased idle speed, delayed the converter clutch from locking until the engine reached a certain temp, all to keep engine rpm higher. They use the same strategy now, except the disable...

    TH350 Removal

If your going to add a plug, drill a small hole where your going to install the plug and let it drain that way. Much cleaner that way.

    TH350 Removal

If the trans has a drain plug, use it! If it doesn’t have a plug, now would be the ideal time to install one!!

    Accelerator Cable Adjustment

How about some pictures of what you’re working on? What carb/intake, are you using? It might be quicker and easier to just buy the correct brackets instead of trying to engineer what you need. Basically you need the resting position of the cable to move away from the throttle arm on the carb...

    Th350 rebuild (lost drive gears)

The clutches have definitely seen some heat, but they aren’t burnt. What’s the pump look like?

    Suburban Trans Pan removal help

Raise the transmission as high as possible, get as much clearance as possible between the pan and the crossmember. If that doesn’t help, slide the crossmember back.

    Turbo350 w/shift kit slamming 2nd gear

Lube the seal with vasoline, place the o ring in the case, right up against the step it seals against. Lube up the cover, put it square against the seal in the bore. Use a large socket and a prybar against the floorboard to push the cover in. Once it’s in place, reinstall the ring. It will...

Whip antenna for CB on a Suburban

On a somewhat related subject: my wife and I like to go to flea markets, pawn shops and swap meets. One of the pawn shops I frequent had a brand new Solarcon A99 antenna, still in the box. I paid like 50 bucks for it. Anyway, I had it in the garage for several weeks, hidden behind my car on the...

Whip antenna for CB on a Suburban

On my truck, I ran the coax from the center of the roof down the center of the rear window. From there is zip tied to the floor until it reached the bolt in shifter plate for these trucks if it was equipped with the 6 speed manual trans. I drilled the hole thru that, I figured there are millions...

Whip antenna for CB on a Suburban

I use to be big into radio when I was a kid. My fascination started when dad bought a Buick Electra with factory am/fm and built in CB. I was probably 6 or 7 years old. I have had a radio in every truck I have owned. Back when I had disposable income, I use to snowmobile a lot. We used Cb to...

Need help wiring power windows and door locks 83 K1500

It helps being cheap! I grew up watching Scotty on Star Trek (the Miracle Worker!) and McGuyver. It ain’t broke if they can fix it! It’s been very beneficial to have access to a couple salvage yards that allow me to roam around looking at cars. I have found it’s sometimes easier to adapt...

Need help wiring power windows and door locks 83 K1500

GM used a screwed up complicated power door lock system in those years. It’s hard to explain, but pushing a button on one side uses the other side to complete the signal path to the relay. Entirely to many wires, too many failure points. My fix: use a common door lock relay from a later...

    Smoking Ground Wire

I bet you will find either a loose ground wire, or bad corrosion inside the insulation of the heavy ground wire. Since the main ground wire is compromised, the smaller ground wire is trying to pick up the slack. The starter is pulling far more current than the wire can handle, causing the...

Old school garage door opener remote

That’s exactly what I’m planning to do. A block of wood cut to fit in the opener pocket, with a push button placed in the correct spot should work. I figured there were lots of those remotes out there, why engineer something that is easy to find? How wrong I was!!! Apparently, there is a bit...

1976 Chevyvan G30 stiff accelerator pedal

Make sure the cable isn’t twisted or kinked, look for obvious damage. Unhook the throttle from the carb, does the carb throttle plates move freely? If not, try moving the throttle with it unhooked. Find out why the throttle is stiff. Having a pedal that is hard to push is an inconvenience...

    Mechanical fuel pump return line

The return setup would be preferred with today’s lousy gas. The 3 port pumps have a tiny orifice in the return fitting, basically a controlled internal leak. It’s constantly circulating fuel back to the tank which keeps the fuel and pump cool. The other advantage is hot restart. Imagine it’s a...

1986 sbc th350 ran dry on ATF :o

If you can build an engine, you can do a TH350. With the possibile exception of a Chrysler 727 or 904 transmission, it’s probably the easiest to work on. Work slowly, work cleanly, don’t force anything, check your clearances, and air check each assembly as you go.

    Looking for 13.5v-13.8v voltage regulator

The resting voltage of a fully charged battery is around 12.6-12.8. To the best of my knowledge, regulators have always been calibrated to put the charging system voltage around 14.2-14.5. I have no clue how you could cheat that, other than converting to an older externally regulated alternator...

    Headlights not working

Make sure he plugged in the dimmer switch. That’s the only thing I can think of that would prevent the lights from working in either low or high beam.
