3.08 to 4.10 first time swap

The pinion will have 30 spline to match your pinion yoke, so that is irrelevant. If you change the carrier to a locker or new LSD you will have to consider 28 or 30 spline.

Cracked vortech heads on a "new" engine?

If an intake/gasket change made a measurable difference there has to be a link. And there will be 21st.

Cracked vortech heads on a "new" engine?

He would have ATF/coolant coming out the dipstick at this point as much water as he says is disappearing. Hopefully it's out the exhaust.

    Front Lift Blocks?

Blocks under the front is illegal. The only ones acceptable are 1" zero rate add-a-leaf blocks, which bolt to the spring pack. Even those can cause you to get rejected for an inspection. Just dont do front blocks.

Cracked vortech heads on a "new" engine?

Worst problem I've seen with running Vortec heads is intake gasket seal. The bolts are really wimpy compared to old school. Did you use any gasket tack or any kind of gasket dressing before assembly? Did you use the thick gaskets or the thin ones with the silicone seal? Have you noticed any...

Cracked vortech heads on a "new" engine?

I may have missed it, what model number is the intake? 7116 or 7516?

    rotating assemblies

Naturally. Mic the journals, snap-gauge the bearings, and if everything checks out, plasti-guage the assembly. Then check end-play.

    10 bolt rear end

5-11 degrees is typical tolerance range of a new r&p setup, 14 degrees max for a used setup. 27 degrees may not have knifed the gears too bad depending how long it has been ran like that but hard to tell without looking at it. It would be nice to just shim the carrier a little closer to the...

    Help with steering on mod

Hydro assist wouldn't hurt, since if it's a 6BT Cummins it has a lot of weight over the front now. Everything looks good. You could take it to an alignment shop and just have them check caster, it should have about 6 degrees.

    Help with steering on mod

If you've shimmed the axle to point the pinion down to clear the oil pan, you've thrown off the caster adjustment. It would be an incredible amount of work but you could have the axle tubes pressed out and back in to compensate for the excessive caster. Otherwise, it needs to be put back where...

Please help me I.D. this T-case!!

I believe you are correct, looking at the bosses above the front output in this pic of a 241C they match yours, and not of the pic of the 208 I posted...

    6" lift questions

I have 6" lift on mine and the front driveshaft angle was (and still is) a nightmare. I destroyed several double cardan joints and mine is no mall crawler, it would see serious trail twist. The SM465 4-speed is shorter than the TH350 so that contributed to my problems I think. I ended up putting...

th400 trouble! Tranny Gurus Please HELP!

I don't think a folded or cut apply piston lip seal or broken pump ring follows the narrative of "warmed-up 3rd don't work, cooled down it does, sometimes can make go in 3rd when warmed up". My first guess would be not enough clearance in the direct clutch pack, or maybe not enough overall end...

    Axle Tube Leaks

This usually happens with jumped or overloaded trucks. The problem you'll run into is the tubes are steel but the pumpkin is pig iron. You'll have to use a high-nickel welding rod and cool the weld very slowly. You can spot weld a little at a time letting the weld cool after each spot, and not...

    centering steering wheel

Usually this happens when the drag link is adjusted too short. It can also happen when your drag link isn't parallel to the road. Lifted trucks angle the drag link and essentially make it shorter. Do you have a raised steering arm on it? If so, it is possible the drag link ends are screwed too...

    2WD to 4WD TH350

It can be done but you have to completely disassemble both transmissions to swap the 4WD tailshaft into the 2WD trans. The tailshaft assembly won't come out of the rear of the trans, it has to come out of the front. Specialty tools are required, so you may as well rebuild your old trans in that...

10 Bolt rear recently started leaking

The pinion crush sleeve is supposed to be replaced if you are removing the pinion yoke for anything. Bad thing is, it is a crush sleeve, so once you put the new one in it has to be crushed to set pinion bearing preload. You'll have to put a pipe wrench on the pinion and tighten the pinion nut...

    Vendor discount codes or deals

This code has worked for me many times before, 30% off $50 or more at Advance Auto... TRT30 Thing is, after the discount is applied you still have to have at least $50 owed. Add in the 10% that's always on their site and any Speed Perks rewards you might have saved up and you can save a good bit...

10 Bolt rear recently started leaking

Grab on to the driveshaft where it meets the pinion and try to shake it around. If the pinion seems loose you'll have to remove the nut, clean/dry the threads and apply a liberal amount of red thread locker and give it time to cure. You can also for extra insurance hit the pinion nut with a cold...

    Axle advice needed

HotRodPC he's saying he is swapping frames to K30 so actually they will work. I'm unsure of the perch width of the D70 but it sounds to me he actually can use both as long as the perch width is I think 40.5" center hole to center hole. The main issue will be do you want it to be a dually or SRW...

    Tank Relocation

Blazer/Burb tanks come in 25, 32 and 40 gallon. The 25 gallon just has a wedge end instead of full end to make the 7 gallon difference, and the 40 is just essentially several inches deeper to make up the 8 gallon difference from the 32. I'd love to put a 25 under my shortbed but the others should...
