    Take the belt off the compressor - it is separate from the others - and lets find out together ! :cool: If the noise goes away , there ya go. Of course, no AC w/o a belt, but ... Well, I say that. Your 87 may have a serpentine belt. Then I would unplug the power plug at the compressor.

    No timing belt on these engines- perhaps you meant timing chain but you would be hard pressed to hear a noise unless it was so loose it was slapping the timing cover.     77 was some anniversary year and got the yellow band for the trim and one year colors for the rear caps. Even back in the day the parts people at the dealership did not know about them. No repops I know of, but maybe someone else here does.:cool:

    I can tell you I bought mine in 2021 from https://www.ebay.com/usr/abssrsautomotive . It was P/N 265067046679. That P/N does not come up on Ebay anymore.:( The OE P/N was 14024304. Long ago discontinued. But, maybe those P/N's will help in your search. Speaking of, somewhere here someone...

    My 80 is bare like that and so was the 77. Goldie, the 80, is a Sierra Classic, and the 77 was a Silverado so I assume that they fancied them up later in life. Less plastic to fade for us. :anitoof:

    Approx 95 degrees and 60 percent humidity. Charge was based on 80 percent of the 5.25 lb R12 charge called for by the sticker on the blower box. No real pressure fluctuations so the compressor seems OK and the tech did not think the orifice was clogged. So, ?

    Compliments of a tech at my work, we evacuated and recharged the ac in Goldie. Crazy, but only pulled like 2.5 lbs out and put in 4.5 of the same R134. R12 sticker called for 5.25 lbs. Funny thing is that I can't tell it blows any colder ... :think: High side around 250, low around 70. I...

    I think the dash pad changed in 78. I think the trim piece is probably the same fit but brushed aluminum vs woodgrain. I wonder if LMC carries the one you need, though. :think: Worth a look.

    My 80 had the yellow one but I had to modify it to fit the replacement booster. If you have the P/N for it that would be cool. If someone knows of a source for an anodized booster that would be cool, too ! :)
