Question about backfire on throttle release

With keeping the OEM pointer you could get some timing tape and put it around your balancer starting at the zero mark. this will give you a larger range. Have to make sure the tape is placed 100% correct then whatever number on the tape lines up with zero on your pointer is what you'll be set...

    Edel Carb issues

Ahha! I'll do that tonight after work and see whats what. Good thing I knowledgeable carb people here. I'm pretty carb-illiterate.

    Edel Carb issues

That was taken from the driver's side manifold vacuum port on the front of the carb. No emissions left except for the usual PCV which was hooked up at time of reading. Shifting is perfectly timed and normal feeling for the overhauled 700r4. The vacuum advanced on the dizzy works like it is...

    Edel Carb issues

With all the carb threads going on I figured I'd throw mine in the ring. Admittedly, I don't know shit about carburetor technicalities. It really all started here https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/need-some-advice-for-shop-bs.27620/page-3#post-528907 After getting the truck back "full...

    I had a sort of crazy Idea last night . . .

a googling led me to this. https://www.fourwheeler.com/how-to/engine/131-0803-dual-fuel-propane-system-install/ Sounds like they did something similar. Hope it helps.

    Piston rod cap torque sequence

What snoots said above, those bearings should be sized for both the rods (bearing outer diameter) as well as the crank (bearing inner diameter). Could also have an out of round rod and cap. Where they checked out by the machine shop? This is all also assuming the crank turned easily with the...

    Piston rod cap torque sequence

I went through this whole process myself and while I've built this same exact block a few times now I picked up a cheap online (download) book and it helped out so much.. learned several tricks and avoided many problems and mistakes very worth it if you don't already have one. However, it...

Biggest Tire for 17x9 Wheel on a v1500 Suburban

I'm planning on getting a set of Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws for my next set and do away with the 15 year old BFG MTs I have now. I've read good things about the Falkens but this will be my first set. I've ran Toyo ATs and their AT2s in the past and honestly would not recommend them, they are ok but I...

    Edelbrock 1400 help ?

You can always get a fitting for the size of vac hoses that threads into the intake manifold's vac passages. Kind of along the lines of this but for your specific application of course. I would also be checking your timing with a timing light to verify its spot on. Also is the Harmonic balancer...

Can you post a picture for me of how all of that seals to the carb? I'm contemplating doing this eventually.

    Windshield Wiper Arms

https://www.carjunky.com/wiper_blade_adapter~oemparts.html Here are some adapters I've found that work with the bayonet style of blades just match them up with what the blade needs. I have no idea how well they work, but it's not a very complicated piece. Personally I use Bosch regular cheap...

    ‘77 C10 hp increase

I just got though rebuilding my sbc350. Nothing too crazy but it'll light up my 33" tires. Sounds nasty, runs and drives flawlessly. I'd say its in the 350hp + or - at the crank. And this is a k20 mind you.. so something along these lines would move a c10 pretty well.. all in all cost me $1800...

Is it time to scrap the 16.5" wheels?

I'm in this same boat. My 15 year old 33x12.5x16.5 BFG MTs will be getting replaced with some Falken ATW3 in 305\70-16 10ply that I intend to put on my Ultra type 50/51 which are 16x8" with -6 offset so they should clear my drums and front discs fine. Hopefully they wont discontinue 16" wheels...

Change your throttle cable. Makes a big difference

Lokar's throttle cable is pretty slick and a easy install. While spendy I feel it was worth it. Had ample adjustment and I was able to get it all lined up properly even though i am running an rpm performer intake and a 1 inch spacer under my edelbrock for a total of 2-3" taller setup then OEM.

    New from Oregon

Welcome! Very nice score for a good looking, running and driving truck for $800 here in Oregon. Any more you can only find super beat and hacked, or super overpriced clean stuff.

Perimeter bolt or center bolt valve covers?

Those are exactly what I was looking at if I were to go with a set of the center bolt covers. $160 for a set of those covers, $20 for the gaskets and whatever for the wire holders wouldnt be a terrible price of it solves the problem.

Perimeter bolt or center bolt valve covers?

Thanks everyone! you guys are on the ball with this. The ones I have now are the Felpro 1628s just looked up the order to verify. It is possible that when installing them the first time I over tightened them or that they were't exactly lined up with the cast gasket channel that is in the lower...

Perimeter bolt or center bolt valve covers?

Hello everyone. Having some trouble getting my new cast aluminum valve covers to seal up. Mainly seeing a slight leak/seep in the rear, lower corners. Common from what I've found. My heads can run either type. So I'm wondering if buying a set of center bolt covers and putting them in place of...

    Working over a motor

Thanks it did take some time getting it all together. It goes back to a theee way vac valve that used to feed the cruise control (now removed) and then to a vac canister on the driver's fender. The thing pictured, really have no idea what this one goes to. I know the identical one on the...

    Working over a motor

Got that temp sensor issue fixed. Pinched the wire between the block and bellhousing. Ended up needing a new carb and a fuel pump. Went with an edelbrock performer 1405 and added an electric choke. Just changed out the break in oil (500mi) with lucas 10w30 "hot rod" flat tappet oil. Things seem...

    Which fuel return is best?

I personally don't see that working out too well. The carb inlet will try pulling gas, not push gas. While the fuel pump will still be trying to push the return fuel so the carb will pull the fuel from the return side of the pump... I could be wrong about this. But I'd leave it alone and...

    Cruise control removal

Nope don't have one of those. I do have a second vacuum tank/canister thing on that fender but I do not believe that its related to the cruise. Like what matt said I have a mess of wires and a larger vac line which so far I've traced to my firewall, I'll probably end up cutting it out from under...
