Building Locker rearend
i just got done doing a rear diff with a used housing,, used carrier out of an other rear and used gears out of a different diff....... 1+1+1= time...... wasnt to hard,, but ya need lots and lots of oem shims to get it right...... i should have made a write up about it,, but my truck was...- Tyger13us

new style power steering pump with old style steering box
Man,, simple to fix,, just unscrew the fitting from one pump that ya need and screw it into the pump that dont match...... dont forget the o-ring that goes on the fitting that screws into the pump.. ask hotrod the pump will leak........:flamingdevil:- Tyger13us

Leaking valve covers causing exhaust leaks?
yup,, just make sure the surfaces are clean/ no left over gasket crap,, then torque um to 35 ft lbs and they will never leak..... unless there cracked someplace...... ive seen that also....... i and many gave up on gaskets for cast iron to cast ion long time ago..... if they are aluminum...- Tyger13us

IMO if your buying a trans off craigs list? its pretty much just parts,, ya already got a part trans,, the one ya got that dont work,, i wouldnt want another one... have it rebuilt? or turn it in for a core on a NEW rebuilt one,,, save your self some time and money and do it right the first...- Tyger13us

Bad Vibration above 65 mph - u-joint?
I agree,, but i found out AFTER pulling most of my hair out?? My 4x4 anything over 60 will spin the front drive line......... so i wired it through the inner u-joint to the cross-member and the vibration went away........ what gave me the clue was watching another square 4x4 going down...- Tyger13us

Leaking valve covers causing exhaust leaks?
I never use gaskets for exhaust "cast iron manifolds" to heads...they usually always leak... with headers i use the ole fashioned tin coated OEM,, but i double them up with the tin on the out side of both,materiel facing each other, that is a good header trick without paying big bucks for b.s...- Tyger13us

Please help identify this part!
its called a speedo gear transducer,, they ether speed up the speed of the speedo cable or slow it down depending on how far off the speedometer is in actual mph....... they are very expensive,, and are calibrated to the drive gear on the main shaft of the trans and the driven gear tooth...- Tyger13us

I need help aligning my door hinges on my 1980 chevy c10
paint stur sticks for the gaps and a floor jack and a block of wood to hold the door up a lil bit... removing the striker post from the jam will help out alot,, just be sure to catch the backup plate with your other hand so it dont fall to the bottom of the cab corner......... start with... -
Turbo 350 no drive has R L1 L2
i have that same b&m kit in a full built th350 with 5 clutches in the drums,, 4 in the front drive set,,3500 stall,, super sprag,, in my monza behind 500hp.. havent blown it up yet,, but it wont go into first anything over 35mph,, i didnt lock the first gear valve in it.. but i understand...- Tyger13us

Turbo 350 no drive has R L1 L2
Ive seem that done before,, it was done to lock the first gear valve so ya can slam first gear @ any speed with the shift lever.......or someone really screwed up.... the th350 1 & 2 kit from trans go has a special spring that goes in there to lock the first gear "shit & git" hammer 1st gear...- Tyger13us

sm465 speedometer gears
I toasted my rear axle in my diesel,3.08's, its been dieing a slow death,, I am putting in 2.73's with a new rebuilt sm465 out of 77 that had 3.73's in it.. so the speedo is going to be off,, the stock drive gear for 3.73's is 7 tooth and the driven gear is 19...... ive searched this site...- Tyger13us

What gear do I have?
i have 2 77's with 6's in um with 12 bolts and there both 3.72.3333333's.... the only way to know for sure is pull the cover,, count the ring gear tooth count and then count the pinion tooth count,, but on alot of gm gear sets its stamped on the ring gear and sometimes the pinion also,, then...- Tyger13us
