Time to fix my belt drive system.

Lol I have a bunch of stainless fittings to replace all of the brass ball valves and black iron pipe stuff. Most of it is plumbing for the rear heater.

Time to fix my belt drive system.

I'm just outside of Kansas City. We have plenty of yards but they get picked through pretty quick. Last several trips there have been zero older trucks. Will the OBS vintage 454 stuff bolt right on to a mid 70s motor?

Time to fix my belt drive system.

This was discussed on an old thread of mine, figured I would revist the topic as its been several years. My 454 was serpentine swapped by the previous owner with home made brackets. This is a major headache. AC comp is crooked and ive got giant runs with no belt tensioner. Something is...

Trying to sort a rats nest.

So....in case you were wondering. I found the original brake switch connector with proper orange/white wires. When they put the column back in it got pinched up above it. Thankfully was not damaged. So now I have brake lights again. The position of the brake pedal makes it too short to...

Trying to sort a rats nest.

Lol why would they have a random switch plugged into the pink / purple connector?

Trying to sort a rats nest.

Tracked down my old pedal assembly. Sure enough it has some switches on it. Assuming the white one is for cruise control as it has a vacuum port on it. But my issue now is that it would appear as though I needed two connectors for the break switch. But....I don't seem to have two loose...

Trying to sort a rats nest.

Aside from the column. There really are not any cruise control components left in this truck. But just to clarify. You do think that plug with Grey wires is for the brake light switch? Trying to find my old pedal assembly to check and see if a switch got left on it

Trying to sort a rats nest.

My 83 K10 is now a 454 w/ NV4500 combo. Having some wiring issue now. Due to the Frankenstein nature of this rig and previous molestation from the previous owner.....Having a hard time based off stock diagrams and Google searches. Took this photo 2ish years ago when I started the swap. This...

What did I do wrong? NV4500 Swap Issues

@Hunter buddy (guy whos home shop its been at for 2 years) ordered a different clutch kit and swapped it for me. The clutches were considerably different. Pretty sure I was sent the wrong clutch from Rock Auto. Packaging is long gone but I'm sure I can find some form of ID on the clutch...

What did I do wrong? NV4500 Swap Issues

Pleased to announce that I my rig just made its maiden voyage as 5speed. 40mi with out issue. Well, it's got buckets of issues. But ran and drove so nice. Just in time for $4.99 no corn fuel

What did I do wrong? NV4500 Swap Issues

Pilot bush went in for sure after being test fit on shaft. Bought red locktight and new torq wrench just for this the job. Also, I did make sure to use new bolts. Lol the rest all SEEMED like it was done right. The slave cylinder just drops over the shaft and is held in place by two bolts. I...

What did I do wrong? NV4500 Swap Issues

I did for sure install the correct pilot bearing. Test fit on the shaft before it went in.

What did I do wrong? NV4500 Swap Issues

@Bextreme04 Bell housing came out of a 97 K2500 when I bought the original swap. And no I never did take measurements. Couldn't tell you where but I'm pretty certain I'd read that I needed that bell housing. Drive shafts and cross member fit exactly like it should. It makes the knocking...

What did I do wrong? NV4500 Swap Issues

Just got off the phone with O'Reilly's. Flywheel part# NFW1041. Says it's for a 73-80 454. So at least I did that right

What did I do wrong? NV4500 Swap Issues

No...pretty positive a mid 70s 454. Or at least the block is. I'll call up to O'Reilly's and see what the flywheel was. Pretty sure I tried to match it to the transmission and not the motor. Did not realize there would be a difference. Finally found the clutch kit and slave part numbers...

What did I do wrong? NV4500 Swap Issues

Its a 454 truck that was previously a TH400. I'll have to check but im pretty sure the flywheel was for a mid 90s 454 truck with a NV4500.

What did I do wrong? NV4500 Swap Issues

Backstory....spent several years now sourcing parts to put a later model NV4500 in my 83' K10 Suburban. Total Frankensteins monster. Finally got it all in...fired it up.... Much to my dismay there was a terrible knocking sound coming from the bell housing. Finally got time to pull it all back...

    NV4500 Swap....Turn key, no crank.

Just got it to fire on its own. But something is wrong with the clutch. Wont fully engage. Sounds like something is hitting the housing as it spins. Makes me wanna puke.

    NV4500 Swap....Turn key, no crank.

Well....replaced the old fuel pump.....not pulling fuel. I did not remember draining tank. Possible that someone drained for me while it sat -_- 91 no corn is $4.20 a gal here rural Missouri. Smh.

    NV4500 Swap....Turn key, no crank.

Did this. No luck. Traced all the wires to the starter....found the problem. My buddy had installed the starter for me. Along with a bunch of other bits. Turns out not all of the starter solenoids are the same. The "S" terminal on this starter is on the opposite side of the one that came...

    NV4500 Swap....Turn key, no crank.

So I have a neutral safety switch. It is located at the bottom of the column. It is plugged in. I have not found a wire that would have went to the transmission....as a safety or reverse light. Was all of that controlled through the column?

    NV4500 Swap....Turn key, no crank.

Correct. It is still the auto column. @DoubleDingo. This is where we are today.

    TH400 help.

Early 2024 the TH400 gave up the ghost. Turned out the pick up was just kind of flopping around in the pan. I then started on the NV4500 Swap. Its been a rocky road. But mostly due to getting ripped off....a lot. Long story. Though I jad made a post about it....but cant find it. Maybe it...

    NV4500 Swap....Turn key, no crank.

Thank you. This truck does not have any cruise components. Fairly certain this tilt wheel is out of a newer truck
