Should I replace this tailgate handle / can it be changed

I bought a replacement handle mechanism (new) off eBay for $20. Seems well made, but I decided it looked like more trouble than it was worth to install so it's still sitting on my shelf.

    Headache rack ideas

Pro Tech that was for a 94-02 Ram. Had to have a friend modify the rails, but I like the results.

    Straightening a tailgate

It's going to be tough to do without some serious bodywork skills. The metal is stretched when it bends, so straightening it with a press will just cause heavy wrinkles and dents.

    Help! High beams always on!

Should have either floor or column switch, not both. Sounds like a creative wire hack owned it before.

    No fuel to carb

Strainer sock on the pickup tube could be clogged, or the tank switching valve could be stuck between ports. I would bypass the valve and plumb straight from the tank to the pump and see if fuel flows.

    Which would be easier?

Yes, you will have to pull at least the front fenders, inner and outer, to swap cabs. Sounds you will be piecing things together, probably just as easy to completely disassemble the front components.

Sounds like a rustoleum rebuild. Sucks

Adding lower anchor points to the bed.

I always put eye bolts in the bed floor. One at each corner and one immediately in front of and behind the inner wheel well. Around a dollar each at any hardware store and work well.

Pulling the 1986 5.7 Broken Cam

Even at idle the crank is throwing the broken rod through 10 revolutions per second, assuming 600rpm. That is a lot of potential damage real quick.

    1994 S10 1Ton SAS

Your standards are a bit higher than mine if that is B rate. Some of us consider a precision machining a steady hand on a 4 1\2" angle grinder. Keep. up the progress. Nice work.

    79 Chevy k20 won’t run. Help!

Try a quick shot of starting fluid down the carb. If its close, you should hear it fire momentarily, at least.

Start digging around or buy a complete harness???

Your call. Dealing with existing butchered wiring sucks. You never know what the P.O. thought was safe and works. Mine was butchered during a diesel to gas conversion. I ended up going to a scrap yard and pulling an intact harness out of a donor. Plug and play. If you try to use a...

    Motor ground gets hot

My truck did the same thing. Found that was the only ground from the engine block to the body, which also was the route to the frame as it was the only ground. Starter pulls lots of amps and needs a good, large ground. I added a large battery ground cable from my frame battery ground to my...

    NP205 question (pics included)

I have mounted several sets of 285s with my $40 harbor freight tire "machine", which is basically a mount that holds the tire and wheel at waist height . The tall sidewall actually makes them pretty easy to install.

What have you done to your square lately??

Swapped in a new fuel tank valve to replace the one I just installed new in September. At least napa warranteed it. Once again, I hope all engineers are cursed to spend eternity working on the things they designed. My particular complaint is to whoever designed the mounting bolts for the fuel...

Engine starts and goes to full RPM???

Is it drive by wire, or does it still have a cable activated throttle? If cable type, is the throttle linkage stuck open?

    Can't believe this gas mileage

Hope is a good thing, but I would be surprised at those numbers. Never trust the gauge. You need to fill the tank, drive for a while, top the tank back off, then divide the miles traveled by gallons used.

    Opinions

The 465 is pretty bulletproof , so as long as it's working fine now, I would just run it as is. New clutch components when reassembling, of course.

    Aftermarket dash cluster

I made my own. I used Sunpro mechanical gauges and an eBay tach (which is malfunctioning, so time to find a quality one, which is tough in 2 1\8" ). Still used the factory Speedo and fuel gauge.

    lowering / easier entry for 84 C-20

It looks like the tire you are looking at is 2" shorter, so it will drop you by 1" , not two. You can pull the front tire, then lower the jack in one inch increments, until you find a height you are comfortable with, then go from there.

    Replacement tail light sockets

On the screws, if you are about the thin pieces that go over the sheet metal tabs to thread sheet metal s rees into, they are called u nuts. Any decent hardware store should sell them, organic harbor freight has a kit for around $7, I think.

    15's or 20's

I agree with Craig that they look like a 275. I have them on my F1. And I prefer 15s to rubber band 20s. Personal preference.
