What have you done to your square lately??

My understanding is that if you use superglue, the mirror can still come off, but it will take the inner layer of glass with it.

    Factory style tach conversion kit

I did the same as Icfman, but looks like I have a bad tach, so not sure which direction I will go now.

    ReWiring the Old Trucks

I ordered a speedway universal harness, but once looking at the different circuits, especially when they do switched grounds, I went to a junkyard and found a factory harness in good shape instead. I did a 20 circuit speedway kit for my 50 F1. The kit worked well, but I pretty much started...

    Fuel tank filler hose leak

If you are just swapping the hose, as long as your tank level is below the tube, you shouldn't need to drain it. If you are dropping the tank, the less fuel in it, the easier it is to manage.

    Factory style tach conversion kit

I don't believe the circuit sheet connects to the tach at all. The harness is stand alone. I am in the middle of converting mine using a factory tach. I cut an opening for the tach harness with a dremel, just making sure the circuit sheet wasn't damaged. Haven't tested it yet though.

    Shift pattern terminology?

I have always called "L" first gear. Therefore, I generally start in second. As far as the jumping out of gear, start by making sure all engine and transmission mounts are in solid shape, not allowing anything to move around. Otherwise, it sounds like you have some excessive wear in the...

    leaks!

The joy of owning an older vehicle. At least most repairs are doable by anyone with average mechanical abilities. Imagine what a ps leak on a new car would cost to have fixed.

    Problem with starting

You can check the starter and solenoid by jumping the solenoid terminals (safety precautions followed). If it turns over, then it's the wiring going there. Maybe a fusible link?

    81 c10 brakes sticking

You usually can't see the caliper piston retract. Pressure is released and the slight movement of the disc moves the pads out of contact minutely.

    Heater refurb question

To lube the cables, motorcycle cables recommend wrapping a plastic baggie around the end of the cable below the opening and secure it with a rubber band. Flare the open end of the baggie open like a funnel.leading to the opening in the sheath where the actuating wire enters it. Prop it up and...

    Heater refurb question

I would try to find a used system. I pulled the complete inner and outer heater box assemblies out of a 73 donor truck. Complete with controls. Pretty simple. My83 had a gutted ac system. Bolts straight in.

    Cab Stand or Dolley

I just put some casters on a pallet. Worked well for moving around the shop, but floorpan repair would be a challenge.

    Any tricks

Not being there, it's tough to say. I always do one side at a time so I can use the other side as a reference. Springs are a bugger. Vise grip and arm power are my go to. I haven't started on mine yet as I'm in the middle of bodywork, but did a corrola yesterday. No idea your experience...

Stolen Squarebodies to be on the look out for.

I have Hagerty on a 1950 Ford F1 and a 1968 Chevelle also. All they asked for were pictures, if it stored indoors, and my value. Odd fact, when I checked for a quote on my 1983 K20, which i valued at 1\4 - 1\3 of either of the others, it was higher. Not sure why.
