    14 bolt newbie question.

    The 1 ton srw axles have different spring perch width (40.5” vs 42”)and the shocks are reversed and located differently as 1 tons have the shocks inside the frame The 3/4 ton axle shares the 42” perch spacing and shock locations with the 1/2ton

    power window relay

    Its pretty simple. 2 relays per door. You will cut and add the relays in the wiring from the switch to the motor. Hardest part is pulling the hot wire. Wire it as per this diagram.

    power window relay mod

    You don’t have a ground to your window motor. Power goes thru the relay on one side and the other wire is grounded thru the relay on the other side to complete the circuit. Try wiring them like I show above and they will work. I’ve been doing them that way for at least 20 years

    Around here, old vehicles are the new fad. People that never had one, and used to talk about those of us that did, now want them to be cool, hip, or whatever they call it now a days. They haven’t a clue of what to look for, and most buy sight unseen, but hey, it is shiny in the pictures.

    The old 700R4 questions!

    The 700r4 came out in the 1982 year model as an option. Somewhere around mid 84 they changed input shafts from 27 to 30 spline. Then somewhere in 87, they changed the valve body.

    The vent windows can be a bear at times. I have a set I need to do, and I’ll try to remember to take pictures when I do them. Biggest problem I have now is my arthritis and working /tugging the rubber and the small parts.

    Mine has had auto locking hubs since Nov 1983 and never had an issue. It is not babied either. The problems I have seen with them is most people put too much grease in them which causes issues. We have gumbo mud here in the deep south that is hard on vehicles, so wondering if it is the colder...

    The ep381 pump has an internal bypass spring that makes it capable of producing higher pressures, but the regulator is in the tbi unit itself, which regulates pressure from 11-18psi depending on spring color, unless they have a 94-95 454/7.4 spring, which will then make the pressure about 34psi...

    I would put in a 96-97 pump in it from a Vortec equipped truck. (Ep381) It has twice the flow of the tbi (ep386) pump

    More horsepower

    May also want to swap fuel pumps. The ep386 (tbi) pump only flows about 75 lph where the ep381 (96-97 Vortec) pump flows about 155 lph. It definitely makes a difference in the 7.4/454 tbi trucks, which always were fuel starved. What color spring do you have in the tbi regulator?

    Post up what you have first. And what are your goals for the truck? Rest of the drivetrain? Trans, gear ratio, tires, etc as it all needs to be a matched combination.

    Looks good. Doing something very similar on my 84 k1500, using the spare winch and frame hanger from an 04 Dodge Ram. Got it mocked up close, just need to pull the bed again to double check and finalize position
