    Sbc 350 kick-down cable help

I am currently in the process of fixing issues that were left unfixed on this retro old of a 74 c10 for my dad and I. I have relocated the fuel pump and fuel lines to resolve vapor lock issues Now we are attempting to get this lockdown cable installed. This is an edelbrock 1406 carb. Kick down...

    Confusion on fuel and more.

Same shape. Firewall is a low pressure fuel pressure regulator for carbs. other is the circular styled oil pressure gauge going in the a pillar pod on the inside.

    Confusion on fuel and more.

Sounds like a good idea to go metal fuel lines next. Agreed.

    Confusion on fuel and more.

Update 4: we now are able to actually see oil pressure readings and not guess. This again was another difficult task because this thing wasn't easy to get to as I have huge hands and I didn't know what size or what this plug was. So to whomever created a 5/16 anything. I hate you. But, we have...

    Confusion on fuel and more.

Update 3: we have no leaks and fuel pressure. I want to say thank you to this community. I have been into automotive stuff my whole life but never had the guts to touch anything other than electrical work. Today we have successfully completed a fuel line rebuild and relocation of a fuel pump. We...

    Confusion on fuel and more.

Update 2. Had to replace fuel pressure regulator for one that was designed for carburated engines. We went with a holley style 12-803. The install is complete and pressure adjusted but we cannot fire. I am having an issue with a slight leak on the inlet fitting for some reason. I have tightened...

    Confusion on fuel and more.

Update. We are almost finished with repairs. New speedo cable installed. Tank remounted. Lines moved to the top of the rail away from the exhaust and the fuel pump was relocated. Tomorrow we plumb, pressure check, and fire em back up. Lastly, I finally found the dreaded fuel-sending wire...

    Confusion on fuel and more.

Since everything was fresh from the motor to the suspension my bright idea was to just go electric for fuel. Again, I am new to building anything other than an audio system lol. This has taught me a LOT!

    Confusion on fuel and more.

In the red circle is the previous location of the components minus the heat shield. Somehow it was removed. Under the hood was also wonky. So we stripped it all.

    Confusion on fuel and more.

Yeah, I learned fast that what I felt was cool on paper, wasn't really the best idea. But by that point I was $600 bucks in on an exhaust system. May as well see what happens lol. He's a rowdy little small block but he wont hurt a fly. Widowmaker exhaust makes it sound pretty radical lol. But...

    Confusion on fuel and more.

Tried that originally, I will post the pic when I find it. But yeah, summertime heat, and the large exhaust was a huge factor to make the change. Mississippi heat has no remorse. Also purchased heat shielding for the new fuel line that we're running. Was told that was overkill though lol.

    Confusion on fuel and more.

Update! We dropped the tank. Found the fuel sending wire wasn't even run, just cut and connector sitting on a brand new tank smh. I am just no longer shocked at this point. We are changing the fuel lines to run outside the frame rail due to the 3 inch exhaust and electric holley pump sitting so...

    Confusion on fuel and more.

yes this was a single-tank system. The gauges work, but again, untangling this has had its challenges. While attempting to remove the cluster once, all the old plastic started breaking around the cluster so I had to glue it all back and leave it be. Trying not to buy another one in other words...

    Confusion on fuel and more.

I am starting to understand that 1974 was a very odd year for these trucks. My issue is this. I have discovered that the shop did not install my new signal wire for my new tank and sending unit. I am going to do it myself but I am unsure where to route it to. In the past I have read where some...

    Oil sending unit hole issue

Retro fitting for his truck has been a nightmare lol. So I'm trying to install a new oil pressure gauge. But I can't get this thing off. Wtf is it and what tool do I need. None of my sockets will grab it.

    Cooling Questions and Concerns

Well here are all my temps on all the hoses at idle and warm. Again. Not overheating but I was told heater core hoses shouldn't be that hot.

    Cooling Questions and Concerns

additional info. I am running a goodwrench sbc350. Aluminum radiator with electric fans and Edelbrock carb, covers, and air cleaner. Not sure if any of this helps the possible diagnosis but thought I would share.

    Cooling Questions and Concerns

Thanks. Looks like its headed back to the shop. I have a list of concerning issues with it. Its not overheating but again, those heater core lines should NOT be piping hot. That scares me.

    Cooling Questions and Concerns

Will warm it up and drive it again today and get some shots with my laser temp thingy. Temp gauge is aftermarket and in the block. Main concern is the heater hose extremely hot and wen checking the radiator we cant see any water moving while its on. it just sits, but nothing is over heating.

    Cooling Questions and Concerns

SBC 350, Serpantine Belt conversion. Truck runs fine but I have concerns. Temp guage seems to have us at a 180-210 operating range. Nothing is currently overheating. But my concern is that my hoses. Top radiator hose holds a lot of pressure and heater core hoses are on FIRE when it gets to...
