The dot looks like it is right on the front corner. You could take some tape and roll the edge up along the top edge of the hood so you don't get an edge at all and mask of the rest of the hood and kind of blend in your base. I am restoring my truck right now. It does not have a crappy paint job, but has enamel over lacquer paint with a primer sealer in between. I am using 80 grit sandpaper on a dual action sander. That's the same color scheme as my truck, and I'd say they silver is a perfect match. I found a ppg paint chip sheet from 78 that looks like my color with the proper code. There are no we or wa codes on the RPO. Just that 17P silver metallic. I looked it up online and one site said medium graystone. Thanks for the replies. So it sounds like if I can't find a replacement it won't be a big deal? It can be left off? I had a friend who thought it was a filter for the radio as well. All I know is it came off The firewall, just to the left side (drivers) of the motor- Cemack

Yes they screw into the cab and form a seal between your fender/in front of the door. When I removed mine while restoring my truck i found they caused a lot of rust,especially at the top. I had to weld a patch in because they caused so much rust. I would like to leave them out as well, but think...
