What have you done to your square lately??

Oh Jeez, too funny. When my daughter saw the Blazer she said something to the effect “Leave it to dad to get a plate that is pronounced Booby”.

What have you done to your square lately??

I noticed the other night that my LH headlight was failing, so went ahead and replaced both headlights. While I was at it cleaned and painted the battery tray and hardware. Simple job but worth it.

What have you done to your square lately??

@JamesSam i bought my new tank, pump/sending unit and selector valve from Oreilly. All fit great and worked fine for the years prior to selling the truck. (My 1987 R1500, 350 TBI)

What have you done to your square lately??

Taking advantage of the nasty weather and continuing detailing the underside. Back in 2015/2016 the company I worked for had an open house for nuclear utility bigwigs to tour our shop and we had these hats made up and handed out. They were snatched up!

What have you done to your square lately??

Helps prevent corrosion. WD-40 was developed by the Rocket Chemical Company under contract to the DOD to protect the thin aluminum outer shells of nuclear warheads from corrosion as they stood in their silos. Water Displacement Formula # 40 (hence WD40) was the ticket. Eventually the DOD...

What have you done to your square lately??

Several smaller jobs today. Replaced the cowl screen after spraying the inside of the cowl with WD40 and wiping it down. Cowl was very clean, no rust. Then replaced the tailgate glass guides as the old ones were chipped and broken. Replaced the firewall power distribution block and PCV valve and...

What have you done to your square lately??

Installed a super high-tech security system! Seriously, the Blazer is parked in a locked building when not out for a drive as per insurance requirements but I was always nervous about parking it somewhere, like Lowe’s or Tractor Supply while I grabbed a few things as it is stupid easy for...

    Head versus manifold coolant temps

When I installed my new radiator and electric fans, I installed the fan temp switch (190 F turn on) in the left side head. The coolant temperature sensor is installed in the intake manifold and was not touched. Normal coolant temps run right around 190 F. and can be monitored via the Dakota...

    Father-Daughter Shop Day

Not to be outdone by the daughter, the wife helped with changing the oil and filter on her Jeep. :love62: I needed the Jeep a bit higher as you can see, but then she wouldn’t be able to reach things.

    Father-Daughter Shop Day

Yes, it’s a LS5 454 from a 71 Chevelle. A bit overkill for a Blazer but it’s hell for cool. Daughter picked up the basics pretty quick! Earlier she wanted to learn land navigation using only a topo map and compass. I was really surprised at how quickly she picked that up! By the second day I...

What have you done to your square lately??

New 140 amp Summit alternator arrived today and the install went without a hitch. As I posted previously I added a separate 4 awg charge wire (overkill but had a bunch of it) in addition to the factory charge wire. Also added a terminal block by battery to accept the new charge wire and the fan...

    67 Mile V10

Interesting news video in the comments section. Apparently this and around 25 other low mileage vehicles were owned by two brothers who were killed by police in a standoff. Brothers had over 1000 guns and 140,000 rounds of ammo but not sure what the standoff was over.

    Father-Daughter Shop Day

She really seemed to enjoy the day. After we finished her car she was like “What can we work hard on next? I want to work on Billy!” (Billy is the Blazer btw) So we removed the Blazers alternator in preparation for tomorrow when the new stuff is supposed to arrive. Great day.

Had a great couple hours in the shop with youngest daughter, replacing brake pads all the way around on her new-to-her car. She did a great job!

What new tools have you got lately?

First step is to reproduce the embossed trim for my Blazer. :D After that you can approach some of the nuclear service companies such as Westinghouse or Framatome (I retired from Framatome, formally Babcock & Wilcox)

What new tools have you got lately?

To give you an idea, this is a reactor coolant pump motor being assembled in our shop. This particular motor is a Westinghouse machine versus an Allis Chalmers. It’s about 15 ft tall. Lots of parts. And lots of hidey holes for a bunch of lead shot to find. Lol You can see the FME zone, which is...
