Welcome aboard from Houston! Nice looking truck there.

    Tank strap issue

Glad you were able to figure things out... Just for reference, I finally found an image showing my 20s without the bed on the truck. It's not the best, but it's something.

    Tank strap issue

Entirely possible that the tanks aren't perfect, but I remember when I installed a new tank on the driver's side of mine that I had to leave the straps started, but loose on the tank while trying to get it into position before starting the bolts on one bracket and adjusting where the straps sat...

What have you done to your square lately??

Looks like people have been having fun with the weather starting to cool off... After a week of research and tinkering, I found out that when I installed the Moroso recurve kit over a decade ago, the younger and dumber me installed the center plate upside down which was part of my issues. Also...

What have you done to your square lately??

Interesting... I've never seen stop plates on a Vacuum Advance before. I'll have to look into it at some point. The adjustable is doing what it needs for the moment. I had it disconnected for the longest time and just upped the mechanical advance when I had first built the engine at the...

What have you done to your square lately??

Pulled her out of the garage, tuned her up a bit, and finally hooked up the adj vacuum advance. She's running pretty good, but now I need to lean her out a bit and adjust the springs in the distributor. Then revisit the vacuum advance again...

74 C10 front left disc locked

Unless they were telling him that it was steel braided hose, but it would still be rubber from the frame to the caliper, just wrapped in steel braid. I had a similar issue awhile back and it was the rubber line from the frame to the caliper.

Interior color combos for Ochre (Spanish Gold) exterior paint

My '73 came in Spanish Gold with Saddle interior.

    Gas spilling when filling up

Mine was doing that due to some really old fuel lines that had split on the vent side of things... I'd start by looking at all the lines which probably means dropping the tank unfortunately. I was fortunate enough that all the affected lines were out in the open. Unfortunate in the fact that...

What have you done to your square lately??

Replace the 52 year old radiator bushings the other week... Also had a little help, which was nice.

1978 Suburban just came in to a local yard

Hot damn... I wonder how good the passenger inner/outer fender and front doors are. Not sure when I'd be able to make it down there. Too many chores and family activities for me to make it in the next week or two.

What have you done to your square lately??

I did mine years ago... Still going strong. Rebuilt the power booster and several other items on the old girl with the idea of saving a little money and learning how the different systems on the truck work. I think the steering box was the most anxiety inducing as if you get it wrong the...

    Muffler recommendations

I like my Magnaflows for similar reasons of carfanatic63... Every once in awhile, I think of getting slightly longer ones to tamp it down a bit more, but then I think it's more about insulating the cab and getting that settled. :) Here's a video of mine from awhile back:

What have you done to your square lately??

The kids love to get in there and pretend/explore... I should learn to just make sure they haven't changed something before I think it's broke. lol

What have you done to your square lately??

Recently figured out why I kept blowing the fuse for the high blower speed(wrong size fuse) and then had the fan speed selection go completely dead on me the next time or two I took the truck out. Figured I had blown some other fifty year old component out and was prepared to start buying parts...

What have you done to your square lately??

Finally reinstalled the grille after about a decade of putting it off... Now I just need to keep the momentum up and work on all the other stuff.

What have you done to your square lately??

Haven't done much in awhile except install the correctly sized fuse for the High Blower Setting... I kept wondering why I was blowing the 15amp fuse only to find out from other threads that I had undersized it substantially. Now I start dreaming of A/C, Stereo, and all the other things that...

R12 to 134. Whats really needed to do this swap for a great working system. All parts needed?

I hope you have power back by now... We've been relatively lucky being out on the west side. Thanks for the thread! I've been meaning to see what it would take to put the A/C back in the Ol' Girl. Figured a minimum of new hoses, rebuild the compressor, and flush the system, but wasn't sure...
  19. SlickGTP

Oops. Probably shouldn't have done that.

If you only have one tank installed, you could just eliminate the solenoid and just install hoses from the existing tank to the fuel lines going up to the pump. Minimizes failure points and simplifies life on the whole. I went the other route and installed a factory aux tank and complicated my...

Replace old pump or keep it?

I've rebuilt the pump, hydroboost, and steering box on mine. They aren't hard, you just have to pay attention to the details. I think the steering box was the scariest out of the bunch since if you mess that up you could lock up your steering mid turn. I tested the crap out of it before I...

What have you done to your square lately??

Filled up both tanks to the tune of an empty wallet... Probably burned an eight of a tank just getting home an' enjoying the sound of the secondaries opening up.

    Well I'm phukd. Th400 lost 3rd

Good start! I'm probably not too terribly far behind you on a transmission rebuild.

73 cheyenne super 10 advice with a terrible engine swap.

You need to plug that large vacuum port on the front of the carburetor and I would go for one of the thick carb to intake gaskets. They're about a 1/4" thick or so and would help to keep the carb from heating up too much. Something like this...
