What have you done to your square lately??
Drove mine to the dump Friday after sitting for a couple weeks, and the damn heater fan wouldn't come on at any speed. I've never had a problem in the past, and always liked how good the heater & controls worked in it. After reading another thread about testing the resistor & relay, I broke out... -

Welcome from Montana! The V designation is for the last year of that body style in that series, 10 or 20. Coolant temp sensor plays a big part in good cold start-ups, so that may be a place to look also.- mtbadbob

Dash Differences?
My brother had an '86 C-10 w/305, CA truck & it also had the light in the center of the bezel. Maybe they were only on CA models?? Like Blue Ox said, the diesels had a "glow plug" light there, not the "check engine" Diesels also had 80 psi oil pressure gauges.- mtbadbob

Just make sure they didn't hack everything up doing the swap, i.e., wiring, cross members. It looks like a pretty solid, straight truck, offer him $3,800- mtbadbob

Lot's of nice trucks, but some of the wheels need to be thrown in the dumpster! Wheel choices are always subjective, but some people just have HORRIBLE taste! I'm more of a purist & think that the '63 had the coolest wheels! -
steering box adjustment
I recently rebuilt my box & here's what I learned. The gear on the end of the pitman shaft is tapered, thus adjusting it will move the larger portion of the taper into the main box gear, taking out free-play to a point.
