What do those of us with '73s do if we want to replace the HVAC controls?

Okay, so here's some actual photos I just took. This is the unit that is currently in my 1973 K10 with A/C: And this is the unit I bought from LMC which was listed as being for a '74 with A/C:

What do those of us with '73s do if we want to replace the HVAC controls?

I wanted to replace the face plate on my '73 K10 HVAC (with A/C) controls. It's old, it's worn, and it just needs refreshed to match the rest of the interior. I noticed nobody makes a '73 style HVAC control so I ordered the '74 model which looks like this: Unfortunately after comparing it to...

Brand New 16 Gallon Non-EFI Saddle Tanks & Holley 12-308 Fuel Pumps

I've got a pair of brand new (never had gas in them) 16 gallon non-EFI saddle tanks that I purchased for my 1973 Chevy K10. They've also got two brand new Holley 12-308 fuel pumps in them as well (which I have the receipt for to prove they are brand new). I was going to install them but since...

Need some help figuring out how to wire my dual saddle fuel tanks

The time has come to re-wire my dual saddle fuel tanks on my 1973 K10. I went ahead and purchased the Pollack valve from the newer (EFI model) K10s. It came with the Pollack valve, a DPDT switch, and this wiring diagram: This wiring diagram makes complete sense to me. Where I am struggling...

Best place to buy a NV4500?

I’m planning to do an NV4500 swap into my 73 K10. I’d like to buy something that is rebuilt / remanufactured so that I know it won’t have issues. A simple google search yields innumerable results which tons of companies selling rebuilt NV4500s. I wanted to ask you guys who you’d...

Nobody warned me about the MPGs on these square bodies!

Unfortunately with my short bed I’m stuck with the 16 gallon tanks! The 20s would be much nicer.

Nobody warned me about the MPGs on these square bodies!

FWIW, I picked up two 12-308 Holley fuel pumps for 20% off at Autozone online of all places. They were having a sale and it was too good to pass up. The 12-308 pumps come with the Hydramat as well. All in all the pumps were $380 each. More expensive than the GM pumps and EFI tanks or maybe...

Nobody warned me about the MPGs on these square bodies!

Yes I wasn't entirely sure if it was the gas or not since the fuel gauge didn't work.

Nobody warned me about the MPGs on these square bodies!

I'd thought about that but this saves me money since I get to keep my existing tanks and the Hydramat is supposed to solve the fuel starvation problem. Some people say it doesn't work, but based off of the reviews I've been reading it seems that 95% of people say that it does work. The only...

Nobody warned me about the MPGs on these square bodies!

Mine has the Holley Sniper TBI and it's got an in-tank pump in one of the tanks (the main tank). The pumps are being replaced with the Holley 12-308 pumps which have the Hydramat (supposedly that helps). This will never happen again after I fix my fuel gauge which I'm doing this coming week...

Nobody warned me about the MPGs on these square bodies!

The state highway that goes from town to our house has a posted speed of 70 MPH. I'm regularly doing 75-80 MPH. Being as though this is Wyoming I'm almost always fighting wind (sometimes lots of it). Since mine is a '73 and doesn't have baffled tanks, I'm wondering how much fuel is actually...

Nobody warned me about the MPGs on these square bodies!

Mines got a 700R4 with 4.10 gears and 33X10.5 tires. I agree, gas is way cheaper than a new truck payment. In addition, I can actually work on this thing myself and it's enjoyable. Can't say the same for any modern vehicle.

Nobody warned me about the MPGs on these square bodies!

Yep, and this one sounds really darn good! I know how that goes! In my case the fuel gauge works but it's off the charts entirely. I've got a Dakota Digital VHX cluster that I'm going to install which should hopefully be more accurate.

Nobody warned me about the MPGs on these square bodies!

I learned that lesson the hard way, twice! From now on I'll be carrying my NATO gas cans with me in the back. I've owned a lot of vehicles that suck gas; this one tops them all by quite a margin! It'll be nice to have the aux tank (and fuel gauge) working.

Nobody warned me about the MPGs on these square bodies!

Today marks the second time my square body has run out of gas on me. In fairness, it's my own fault. When I bought the truck the dual fuel tanks didn't work (only the main tank worked) and the fuel gauge was in no way whatsoever accurate. My next project is fixing the tanks (as anyone knows who...

Suggestions on replacement brake calipers, pads, and rotors

I’m looking for some suggestion or guidance on replacement brake pads, calipers, and rotors. The issue that I have is that there’s so much junk out there, especially when it comes to the remanufactured calipers. Brands like Cardone, Duralast, and most auto part store parts are trash. I’m...

How do I bypass the factory radio completely so I can just listen through Bluetooth?

Okay, this makes sense. My dilemma is that I can go buy one of those RetroSound (or other various factory replacement options) factory style head units that have Bluetooth built-in, then run that to the amp. But then I say to myself, "Why bother spending $350 or so on one of those when I'm...

How do I bypass the factory radio completely so I can just listen through Bluetooth?

Here's the deal: My 1973 K10 has the factory radio. I don't use the radio, ever. I have zero use whatsoever for a radio these days as everything I listen to (Podcasts, music, and even radio) is done through my phone. I'm curious if there is a way to bypass the factory radio and manage...

Are all replacement brake hard lines equal?

Yep, I had to slightly bend some of the hard lines to make room for the brace. I got it in place and it works now, but it's tight!

Are all replacement brake hard lines equal?

Well in my case I was an idiot and drilled through the crossmember (when installing the Offroad Designs steering gearbox brace) and somehow managed to forget that there was a hard line on the other side of the crossmember. I nicked the driver front hard line and it began to leak. The current...
