US General Tool Carts, Tool Chests, Tool Cabinets

Mine are a couple months shy of eight years of use and still look & work like new. Never had the space for any add-ons and even if I did HF discontinued the pebble finish paint so the current setup will have to do. That's something to think about HotRod, just because they have everything you...

US General Tool Carts, Tool Chests, Tool Cabinets

Don't forget there's potential to get some money back if you sell your old boxes. My early 80's C-man set went for $165 in a heartbeat, I should have asked closer to $200. I'd like to see one of those blue boxes get the blackout treatment. It sure helps the looks of the red ones.

    Burb rear bumper impact trim

That's a rough install if it was done by an importer. If it would pass inspection I'd move things around a bit. For signals I'd put amber bulbs where the reverse lights are and then install some small clear backup lights into the bumper. You would still have to deal with the hacked impact strip...

    Burb rear bumper impact trim

Yeah, I'd like to see what that looks like. Strange that GM would specify something different for "down under" vehicles.

    Guess The Tool

These are made by the L.S. Starrett tool company. The longer one is 12" long and the shorter one is 5". They have rubber tips but you can remove the tips to reveal sharp points. The handles are fixed to the base and don't move. The shafts can be turned by hand which slowly rotates the dials on...

R20 burb pulling left under brakes

The LSPV affects pressure to the rear brakes but equally side to side, so a pulling issue can't be pinned on that. Adjusting it to prevent rear lockup before the fronts is pretty easy. Clean off the end of the stem that sticks out of the round part of the proportioning valve and make a dot at...

    Damaged block from shipping!

I saw a gradual shift in policy during my 20 years at FedEx. It started out with "Send it on through" and attaching a note by the QA dept. acknowledging the damage and instructions to contact the shipper blah blah blah. FedEx finally realized this was costing them business and started reversing...

    Damaged block from shipping!

I drove a regular package van for UPS during the Christmas rush. Part of our training was how to hide visibly damaged packages from the customer. The guy training me said if a package is damaged on one side, you carry the box with the damaged side against your chest and then as you put it down...

So it looks like the correct answer to the OP's question is...put 'em wherever the hell you want to.

Little help needed with positioning OEM roof rack etc on my 88 Suburban

I have the rack but no air deflector. I'm measuring 8" from the outer lip of the barn door's rain gutter to the most rearward screw on the rack's footpad. Don't think the measurement is ultra critical, the passenger side is an even 8" but the driver's side is 8.25". Rack is straight despite the...

    Mobile 1 Annual oil

I don't doubt that Mobil 1 oil filters are of decent quality in terms of micron filtration, but there's still the matter of physical size for imports and how much contaminates that tiny bit of media can trap. I'm sure if they had a 20k mile oil filter available their marketing guys would be all...

    Mobile 1 Annual oil

The original Mobil 1 synthetic, which has been around for years, is rated for 15,000 miles so it's not too difficult to imagine that with continued product development that another 5k is possible. The testing for Mobil Annual was done on modern (2015-2016) 4 cylinder turbo engines. They were...

Aluminum Wheels for 8 Lug Hubs

I've always thought the later factory wheels didn't look quite right on squares but your flatbed might be able to pull it off. I went with Eagle 186 wheels because they were reasonably priced and just a basic design. After having wheels on other vehicles with a busy pattern I can appreciate how...

    Hood brace kits?

Has anyone had a problem with their hood manufactured after 1980? I was going to add braces to mine at one point but since the kits are listed as 73-80 it seems GM fixed the problem for '81 and later.

    383 Vortec/TBI Build Thread

You might consider ditching the 0-100 fuel gauge. A 0-30 liquid filled gauge is easier to read and can register an increase of less than 1 psi when you're using an adjustable regulator. I've been using the Jegs house brand gauge for about ten years without any issues.

    Recommendations? Sway bar

I'm running a model 7535 Hellwig bar in the back and added poly bushings to the front. Being lifted with a roof rack, the truck was leaning badly but the mods tamed it down pretty well provided I don't drive like a madman.

    Harbor Freight Tool/Product Review

Bought the hi-res inspection camera from HF. Needed something that would help me open the door of my dd '94 Accord which was suffering from the dreaded latch failure. If you've never heard of it, imagine kneeling on the driver's seat facing backwards while trying to pick/pull on a tiny pin...
