What have you done to your square lately??

I like driving my rigs. I see a lot of people modifying theirs as though they are going to war. Racing, towing huge loads, big engines... all expensive stuff for hard use... and then they park it in the garage and only go to a car show once in awhile. 2.56 gears get better milage and in a...

What have you done to your square lately??

Yeah, ya gotta have lower gears with big tires.

What have you done to your square lately??

I'd regear to 2.56s. But I wouldn't be using my truck to race or tow anything.

What have you done to your square lately??

Yeah, I was expecting to see a plug in the pump that I could replace with a nipple, but there is none. I'm kind of wondering how the water flows if the heater hose doesn't go directly to the pump. I guess it must somehow.

Okay, so I can see that the one heater hose goes to the intake just like mine does. Does the other heater hose go directly to the radiator?

What have you done to your square lately??

I've got a question for the forum... My 1978 square is a basket case due to the original body being so rusted that I can't salvage it. But I'm trying to salvage the chassis with a frame swap. So the question is, there is what looks like a heater hose nipple coming out of the radiator, and...

What have you done to your square lately??

Makes one wonder why, especially since most of the parking lots are never very full. If they aren't careful somebody might think they are doing something nefarious to pad the books.

Someday someone will go into a parts store and want to stroke a 390 Ford or 350 Chevy, or put a clutch behind a small block 400, and no one in the entire company will be able to help them because all they know or are concerned about is what the computer says.

It's my experience that NAPA once had the best counter personnel, people that "knew" **it, and if they didn't they knew where to look. But the advent of computers and them throwing their books away has led to a lot of counter help that has no knowledge except how to use a computer.

Napa stores are independently owned. They have a lot more flexibility than corporate owned stores. They have some choices, even from the NAPA system. I've seen them buy questionable product at times... and bear the consequences.

Yeah, as @bucket said, a used harness in good shape is better in many ways. The painless systems are just wire in the end, but packaged and advertised to impress. They may come with a few things like a new fuse box. But they still don't come with factory connectors and they have to be spliced...

I'm in the process of doing the same thing with a different kind of body... but using a square body chassis. It's going pretty good, other than I've forgotten where everything goes since stripping both trucks. I'll be asking questions...

VERY cool. Did you have to modify the frame or cab to make it fit? It came out great. I'd drive it.

"Shift Light"? What do you mean by that? Isn't it a little bright?

I don't believe I've ever seen a grill like that. Certainly most '55 have a different grill. Is it because it's a one ton? I just googled it and it says Chevy had both the old body style and the new one the same year... and a 6100 truck is a two ton. Whoa!

One of the best things I ever did in life was take a dog training class. Just about every training technique for a dog can be applied to kids, and the dogs and kids are more mentally healthy once they know where the boundaries are.
