    Where does this wire go?

And here's how the wires look near the alternator. The wire that naturally falls to the back alt lug looks like it's had its eyelet replaced at some point. But it does look like it should be the one going to the alt lug vs. the nice OE-looking red one that looks like it has to double back to get...

    Where does this wire go?

Here's how the harness looks on the starter. All seems good to me, Y/N?

    Where does this wire go?

The one I currently have on the alt lug? Or this big red one? (I would think electric choke wire(s) would be pretty thin.)

    Where does this wire go?

The eyelet doesn't fit any of the starter lugs. And I already have the alternator wired up from this harness. Should there be two wires on that lug at the back of the alt?? (Although there's an extra wire that I'm holding that was tapped in at some point.)

    Where does this wire go?

Hey guys, Sorry for this one, but I couldn't readily find the answer after some searching in the forums. Does this wire (the big red one I'm holding in the first pic) go back to this junction block on the firewall? Backstory: I bought an '86 C10 with an unknown SBC in it. The engine harness...

This isn't factory, right? (Suburban bumper w/trailer socket hole)

Hey guys, Went to pick up this Suburban rear bumper ("Poor man's C10 sport bumper";)) this evening and thanks to the lazy lister (1 photo, 3-word description), I didn't know until I got there it had holes in it for a trailer harness hook-up. The holes are very clean and well-placed...

Looking for longer lasting brakes (budget upgrade options?)

No idea. I'm assuming rotors and pads (and shoes) were probably replaced 10 or so years ago. Bought the rig about 4 years ago. Been driving it regularly the last 3 years. And the brakes seem to work fine as-is. The fluid is dirty. But the system seems to work fine as far as I can tell. They all...

Looking for longer lasting brakes (budget upgrade options?)

Hey guys, I have the standard factory brake system on R10. It works just fine for me around town and such. But last summer, after I spent just 7-8 mins coming down the backside of a very small mountain (middle of VA), they got hot and less effective. Still stopped fine, but they were very easy...

Vortec bottom end/TBI top end: timing?

Hmm... I'm 4º advanced on the L31 roller cammed-305 TBI I'm currently running, Rick. I did a basic gasket/oil pump rebuild when I first got my R10 a few years ago. While I was doing that, a buddy gave me his old L31 cam and told me to jab it in. So I grabbed the roller cam parts from the...

Vortec bottom end/TBI top end: timing?

And about $500 behind for that unicorn intake. ;) (Missed out on a used one a year ago for $200.) Just trying to do a cheap, roller-cammed TBI 5.7 for my daily with parts I have lying around. Not lookin' to make any real power with this build.

Vortec bottom end/TBI top end: timing?

But what if I want to keep the plastic OE timing cover? (Say, for budget/already have it in-hand reasons.) Will this Vortec cover work?

    Still lookin' y'all! Anyone??

Vortec bottom end/TBI top end: timing?

Hey guys, I'm looking to put the top end parts of a 5.7 TBI (heads, intake, TBI, TBI ignition) on a late-90s Vortec 5.7 bottom end (short block). My question at the moment is: will I be able to set timing with the TBI HEI (run by the factory TBI ECU) using the molded-in timing mark on the...

    Lowered C10 Helper springs

Now that I look closer, I think you do have yours a solid 3/8" higher. And honestly, that might be all the more I need to make it work for my situ. I was kinda thinking flipping them over might give me too much height/distance. Thanks for the input.

    Lowered C10 Helper springs

I got my Air Lift bags installed on Friday, and then put them to work on Saturday. Drove way too far to pick up two "boat anchor" TBI 305s for possible future use in my rig. (Figure with the way things are going with new vehicles and poor-quality aftermarket replacement parts these days, might...

    Lowered C10 Helper springs

Hey @TotalyHucked, now that I'm looking at doing the same thing you've done (this Air Lift kit on an 80s square), I have a few questions for you. 1. Why did you mount the big frame bracket in that orientation (upside down)? The instructions show it flipped the other way. Is there a lot less...

2025 Old Dominion Truck Rally Central VA

Feel like you could've easily made that just a weee bit clearer, Perry. Until just now, we have zero rapport with each other. So when you came back pretty hard with the all-capped "NOT" and suggesting I'm asshole and capped it all off by not using a winky to visually show me (since we're not...

Wanted: Forestry Green 81-87 tailgate (Mid Atlantic region)

Looking for an original green tail gate to round out the major missing body parts on my latest basket case. Just a reasonably clean, functional, driver-quality gate. Nothing pristine or NOS. It's not a big-budget build by any stretch. So I can't afford to have it shipped from TX or anything...

I wish! That's my friend's unicorn. Even in Squarebody circles, it gets more compliments than my Squarebody! ;)

Or maybe you're overreacting by not noticing my winky face at the end of my statement, Perry? Of course you're not "wrong", I was just being playful.

2025 Old Dominion Truck Rally Central VA

If you were anywhere near central VA and didn't make it to this show yesterday, you missed a doozy-whopper! Said to be over 300 awesome rigs in attendance - some traveling well over 500 miles to make the scene. It was great meeting @JamesSam in person yesterday. Got me a new '87...

Can anyone tell me about this step bumper? (Aftermarket?)

I guess that doesn't surprise me in the early years. But I'd think by the late 80s/early 90s, the NHTSA would've required OEs to have some sort of rear crash protection. (Unless it was a fleet deal that was getting a special-purpose bumper before it hit the road.) Mine came from the factory...

Can anyone tell me about this step bumper? (Aftermarket?)

Mine's aftermarket then. It's definitely thinner steel and has less brackets (just two) than my old, rusty, OE step bumper. I'll try to steer clear of minor bumps! ;)
