New ballgame with the 62 C-10 496" build.. The owner wants to install oversize SS valves .. Just a bit more work on my end ... Valves are on the way here ... Is it done yet .. ?- dragstews

Came unbalanced ... Reason was they needed the damper & flywheel and the bolts, lower cam chain gear, the keys for the gear and damper .. Everything that spins with the crank in order for them to do the job ... Got a local machine shop nearby that does that service ... Had the need to order a...- dragstews

Okay ... 496" number 2 motor block is out of the boring stand and getting honed .. This one will see life in the Binder (My IH truck). Edit ... Going back into the boring stand to take out more meat .. Will have 500.66 cubes ...- dragstews

There's no balance holes .. Only has the factory holes, one in the front counterweight and one in the rear .. I asked to have it externally balanced when the order was placed .. Don't think that happened ..- dragstews

All the oil holes are there ... This crank is a cast iron stoker from Eagle, very well made ... Ordered in a kit with their rods, Wiseco pistons, rings, clips and bearing .. All parts looks to be top shelf components .. Wanted it to be a plug & play assembly on my end ... Not all that sure it...- dragstews

Houston, we have a problem !! Something just don't look quite right to me with the stoker crank .. ?? Monday I'll call the supplier and "Pow-Wow" about my concerns .. Does anyone see what I'm seeing ? ( More appropriate question would be; Does anyone see what I'm 'NOT' seeing ? )- dragstews

Being my truck is a 1954 year model and I'm sticking a Chevy motor in the critter thought was to use the Chevy color from close to the same era ... That was the red-orange of the 55/56 cars/trucks that came out with the first small block 265 cid V-8's ..- dragstews

Bored for .060" oversize pistons .. Target is 4.310" Took the bore to 4.305" the last .005" will be honed .. Using 80 grit stones honed to .002" of finish size .. Change the stones to 280 grit and honed to .0005" of Target .. Stones was changed again to 400 grit .. Wall finish was acquired...- dragstews

Ran up on a set of 454" PP heads .. Casting numbers say they was used on 86 to 90 trucks .. Rough as a corn cob at the moment, but may be buildable .. ? I'll hot tank them and sit them aside till I have the time to work em .. With three Big Block motors being built I'm as busy as a one...- dragstews

Back to the 496 cid build that will be breathing fire in a 62 C-10 ... Some more parts has shown up .. Super nice polished water pump from Weland .. Still waiting on tools in order to finish the bores .. The owner is kicking ass building this old Chevy truck ... Check out what he's doing...- dragstews

I got an idea ... I'm thinking of selling my 2 bolt main 88 motorhome motor .. Going to use a set of heads off of a Gen VI on it .. ( The late model heads are a huge plus cause they up the compression (100cc chamber opposed to 118cc) and flow much better than the peanut port heads that the...- dragstews

Got another 4 bolt main block nailed down. .. Wasn't very far down the road. Tomorrow I'll go after it .. Guessing I looked at about 30 blocks before I found this one ... Soon to see what I bought ?? It's in the bed of the truck and in route to my shop ... Looks to be a good, unmolested...- dragstews
