    Question on battery/starter

    Start with the clamps on the battery posts. Make sure they're clean and tight. When things get cold and old they can contract and expand more. Also check grounds.

    Either one would be good for me, it beats walking. I may lean slightly towards the 305 mainly for cheaper maintenance and repair costs.

    Wow, nice pickup! I owned an '81 Custom Deluxe SWB C/10, 250, 3 speed on the column for 11 years, it was my daily driver. Very simple and reliable. I bought mine used for $1,400 in Alaska. Thank you for sharing the photos and welcome from northwest Arizona.

    Seen that happen a few times. Sidewalls blow, tread separates, not pretty and can cause some damage. It pays to check the date code and the tires physically.

    There is a manual choke kit for the quadra jet, I've bought a couple over the years. I grew up with manual chokes and manual transmissions and prefer both.

    I immediatley thought of a faulty ignition module. Usually they fail 100% but it couldn't hurt to check.

    You seem to do a jobs thoroughly and with quality parts, I can appreciate that. Working as a fleet mechanic for many years, I've had to go back and repair jobs that were completed sloppily and with used parts that should not have been reused. Good work deserves praise in my opinion.
