Ideas as to where this problem is coming from?

Fender drain hole and cowl holes were plugged as well as possibly a leaking windshield gasket.

    Ford Trash Talk Thread lol

N I agree. It is about taking care of the engine to get the high mileage. don’t get me wrong. I hate ford. I hate their smog shit, their love for vacuum lines and all kinds of other shit. But I have seen that 300 leak daily and the only oil change it got was the fresh oil in from the top as the...

    Ford Trash Talk Thread lol

I mean... I routinely see SBC die around 150k. Not until the vortec 5.7 did I start to see more trucks in the 200k mile range. Since the vortec didn’t really come out until 96 being the same year as Ford ended the 300. It’s kinda a moot debate. also comparing the 300 (old ass tech) to a 5.3...

    1974 dash different?

Only issue I had one mine was the windshield wiper switch. It sits too high. I notched the dash and self drilled some new screw spots. Worked like a charm. You CAN install the bezel without modifying the wiper switch but you’ll have to pop off the thumb grip thingy. it’ll just be a metal tab...

Talk me out of buying a more reliable car please!!!

I dunno man... he blamed the shop last time too. Something about over charging and under working, not trusting, wrong parts... can’t help but wonder if it’s a new shop or same shop, same problems , different day?

Talk me out of buying a more reliable car please!!!

I believe I offered this advice to you on day ONE. Sideline the square and buy a FI car/ truck to DD. Work on the square when you have time, space and tools to do it.

how hard is it to rebuild a 205 - what might be needed from a shop

I have built about three of them... I do not recall needing a press. Good snap ring pliers. Yes. Then there’s that funky snap ring that doesn’t have the eyes for the usual style of pliers. ( IF ORIGINAL RINGS) They look more like reversed slip joint pliers. Maybe the idler gear needed a press...

    Resurfacing rotors, drums (esp OE)

I think the new drums on my 73 12 bolt. Measures 11” and the max diameter was 11.09 Lead me to believe they were throw aways. The one I pulled off had the same specs. It was already beyond the 11.09 when I pulled it. I’m pretty sure it was 11.09 but regardless I know I have the range...

    Blazer braided fuel line

As a side note to anyone using my order summary do NOT NOT NOT buy that filter. It’s a piece of shit. Strait up. leaks from the housing. Supposed to be a cleanable filter. But I wouldn’t trust it. The body leaks from the serviceable area there’s an O ring. Once this thing plugs up. I’m tossing...

    Blazer braided fuel line

Here is an order summary of the fuel lines I did on my efi 73. Measure out length you need. Wrap the cut area in electrical tape. Cut it with a cut off wheel. Remove tape. SPRAY inside braided line with wd40 spray fitting with Wd40 then slip it in an tighten up the fitting. Make sure no pokies...

    Ford Trash Talk Thread lol

Damn Ag. Couldn’t have worded my distaste for Ford any better. The one we have is a 93. So it is indeed FI. But since I was a child my grandparents owned a Mustang restoration shop. So my distaste started young. The amount of funky smog equipment and vacuum lines is exactly why I hate them.

    Ford Trash Talk Thread lol

Got an i6 as a work truck ( not my choice). It had under 100k when it was purchased. This truck leaks oil and the added oil is the only change it’s ever had. At quarter million miles was taking it up a hill to a job. Oil pump went out. The knocking could be heard for miles. No cell range and...
