    Done dun it

The carb should be easy to remove; it will give you more room to get at that broken piece and also reduce the chance of ruining something else in that area as you try to remove, repair and install.

What have you done to your square lately??

IDK, a little too risky for me, I don’t believe there’s much in the way to remove it to repair properly or replace the oil pan, cheaper than another engine and the labor required to replace it.

What have you done to your square lately??

Yep, lots of surface area on these old squares, becomes overwhelming at times. I like that cab wrap trim but plan to use two sided tape since my truck doesn’t have the trim nubs.

Putting a gas 350 in a 6.2 diesel frame, quick input please.

My 83 was originally a diesel now burning gas 5.7 liter. The wiring is different since the diesel is fuel injected; fuel delivery different. Suspension springs heavier duty. Two batteries for the diesel. The diesel fuel mileage is twice better and louder. Having two complete runners shouldn’t be...

Who knows auto insurance? Ins outs loopholes

Get a copy of the police report to confirm the accident accuracy, and see if the car owner can be determined. If so, and it’s not your fault, ask your insurance company the best path forward. They may even help get what you deserve assuming the car was insured. If that driver didn’t have...

What have you done to your square lately??

Sprayed the headliner with textile coating to get a closer match to the two tone seat covers. Also gonna use the same material on the door panel inserts. The water based paint is kinda thick even after reducing 25%, expensive too. Gonna leave it in the hot sun to lock it into the vinyl surface...

What have you done to your square lately??

Taking the path of least resistance so I did a little surgery to the existing turn signal housings to rough one in. Gonna need to add some material around the edges to anchor it, probably epoxy or bondo. What color should I paint the edges? Black, silver, chrome or white?

cargo light/ 3rd brake light install

Especially when it’s already painted because I’ve done most of the restoration work in reverse order. I’m planning to create much smaller openings for those lights.

Thank you, thank you, thank you….these pics help immensely. When I drill and install, I will take pictures and post for others to see.

cargo light/ 3rd brake light install

No dome light but I am planning to add one as well. Not concerned about the dome light since I now have a headliner which I can use the cutout to locate the drill hole. For the cargo light I’m just not sure what’s behind the panel such as roof supporting sheet metal layer. That cab back exterior...

cargo light/ 3rd brake light install

No dome light but I am planning to add one. I now have a headliner which I can use the cutout to locate the drill hole. I’m just not sure what’s behind it such as roof supporting sheet metal layer. There’s a groove on that outside surface and I’m unsure what’s behind it so I was hoping someone...

cargo light/ 3rd brake light install

What’s hiding behind the vertical panel between roof line and rear window. I’d be bummed if I created extra repairs if I drilled in the wrong spots. Any pics available of the factory installation holes? I’m installing a newer led light, not the factory original.

What have you done to your square lately??

Countersunk the 3.5” speakers so they won’t interfere with dash pad. I used some pc board spacer hardware to lower 3/8”, hopefully it stays put and doesn’t vibrate.

How much paint do I need?

I’d consider a camouflaged paint job, look good as well, hides imperfections and reasonable cost.

How much paint do I need?

That’s what I did, summit single stage paints, white and orange, purchased 2 gallons orange, one gallon white, plus reducer, and hardener. Don’t forget all the prep work and primer needed for the paint to stay on the surface. Lots of surface area on these old trucks which equals a lot of work.

    Dash emblem interchangeably

You will have to fill and drill to fit the different emblem onto the trim bezel, and open a similar area on the dash for the hardware unless you use glue on the emblem.

What have you done to your square lately??

Pasted the new orange headliner to the backer board, still need some paint to match the two tone (brown/orange) bench leather seat cover….not perfect but perfect enough for me. I purchased $30 siphon spray gun from HF to spray landau rubber cement rather than buying 3M headliner paste. Hopefully...

What have you done to your square lately??

Bolted the bumper to determine if my fog lights would fit in the 82 bumper turn signal holes. It will require some metal cutting and welding of the bumper bracket which I don’t want to add to my to do list so I’m gonna look for a different solution similar to newer trucks with a circular light...

What have you done to your square lately??

Test fitted front grill and chrome today. I haven’t tightened everything but the bottom valence and grill has a lot of gap variation from the center to either side. Is this old truck normal look and space tolerances? Also, was considering using the cold air intake but it interferes with the...
