The factory owner's manual does not specify type or capacity, it just says to fill it until it reaches the fill hole. But it is 80W-90W gear oil. I believe mine took just over 4 quarts...but I don't remember exactly. The transfer case took ATF.- Redfish

If you are feeling a need to "upgrade" why not sell that C20 outright and take that money to buy something newer? I think this would be a rather lopsided trade if you compared price to price.- Redfish

Towing with a 305 V8?
@Velder if it's the stock transmission it is NOT a 5 speed. Probably a 4 speed auto, 700R4. The right gears and the right mindset make the tow vehicle work. I cleaned it, shined it and drove it to the Jambalaya Festival Car Show. It hauled the canopy, the chairs, the ice chest and of course a bunch of tools that I did not have to use. -

steering box adjustment
When you have tightened it too much the steering wheel will no longer return to center on its own. You will have to turn the wheel back to center every time while a properly adjusted steering box will allow the steering wheel to come back to center/straight as soon as you are moving.- Redfish

How much does tire size effect speedometer?
It is obvious that larger tires will cause an error in the speedometer readings. The faster you go, the greater the error. I am running 33s so I put my GPS on the dash and compared the actual to the indicated. 45 mph indicated is 51 actual. 50 indicated is 57 actual. Installing lower gears...- Redfish
